I really like how you showed a game you lost. Things go wrong, you can play really well and still lose and get no gold medals. It’s good to show that not every game is perfect

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SHARK: please keep in mind that rainmaker is the most teamwork important mode. Sharking is a brilliant tactic, but don't do it to much to the point that you aren't painting, contesting control of areas, are immobile too much, are caught out far from support, or AREN'T CONTRIBUTING TO TEAM PUSHES. Especially map control is so vital as it allows free movement for the RM. Sharking is the most useful when you have a substantial lead, and aren't confident in your teammates ability to defend. Sharking is undoubtedly best used with slayers and fast killers like the .52 gal. Also make sure to recognize when you have numbers advantage/ disadvantage so you can decide whether to fall back or push with the team. Since team comps are displayed on the top of the screen, you can recognize whether a certain weapon and their behavior is absent from play for awhile. When their sniper's dead, you can relax a bit, when slayers die, the RM carrier is freer to move. All in all, make sure your tactics align with your team's. People think top fragging is too important, and while it is, teamwork is key. Also if your team is dead, either shark the RM or jump back to spawn. When you respawn, if you're unsure about jumping, don't; it takes mere seconds for the other team to get the lead, and you dying irresponsibly does not help, so PLEASE ONLY JUMP WHEN YOU'RE ON THE OFFENSIVE AND CAN AFFORD TO FEED.
@key81885
@key81885 2 жыл бұрын
Sharking also really good while your whole team is dead. If you don’t have a bomb and have a fast dps weapon you should be good to try to take out rainmaker. When you have a bomb though it’s definitely better to fall back and give your team jumps and throw bombs to regain map control. The weapon i play the most has autobomb and it isn’t great for regaining map so i just shark and try to get a pick or two instead or wait for respawns

Whats a shark?
@macd-man3787
@macd-man3787 2 жыл бұрын
@@micdonallls8853 a sea creature that attacks when you least expect it. But "sharking" is a tactic in Splatoon that follows that same principle. It means submerging yourself in ink and moving around without a trace, and benefits with almost every weapon in the game in rainmaker. Sharking is commonly combined with ninja squid, as it helps you achieve the stealth with a mitigatable cost to swim speed; and rollers and fast killing weapons

So you’re telling me none of his other videos are informative or tips on how to be a better splatoon player? He’s literally made so many videos on how to be better player SINCE splatoon ONE. It’s just not in the format or style of this video. He’s made how to play tower control,splatzones, use motion controls, squid roll. He’s told us which weapons are best for certain situations. He even bought a camera just to show his hands so you can see how he does it. That’s just within the last month lol

One small bit of advice: if your opponents hit checkpoint first and then your team hits checkpoint immediately afterwards (score is let’s say 68 to 69 with your team losing because you hit checkpoint second), if your team can pop rainmaker, make that push. I don’t care if you die immediately after falling off that pedestal, just get your team in the lead. I get that you want to play defensive and safe but I cannot tell you how many times someone got the rainmaker and then retreated and then we end up losing the match all because we didn’t push literally two steps. You can still retreat but get the lead first. It’s far easier to play defensively than offensively.
@key81885

Sharking is 100% the most useful thing in rainmaker. Sneaking up behind them or next to them is a really easy way to take out the rainmaker before they push up but i never see anyone do it. Nice new series

The thing that impresses me the most watching this is the level of intentionality. Being able to really move and act with purpose based on team comps and positions. Prioritising targets rather than just shooting whoever is in sight (and then proceed to chase two rabbits and catch neither...) Understanding when to press forward and when to hang back or back up, especially in a mode that can escalate as quickly as Rainmaker. I have a ways to go on learning that. I wouldn't say I play aimlessly myself, but I definitely act a lot more on intuition of the moment, which I'm guessing is probably not ideal. Aside from the usual learning by doing, I think I may also need to learn how to evaluate my own play. Perhaps that'll improve my decision-making.

i love this idea as a series! a couple things i noticed throughout the video that i haven’t seen too many people talking about: 1) Positioning: there are a ton of comments about sharking which i don’t feel the need to explain bc others have done it well enough, but at 2:01-2:09, something that massively stuck out to me is how *far* dude repositions after finding his sharking kill, and how *quickly* he flanks behind the main pedestal at mid. you can even see at 2:07 the rm shoots where dude was, and he surely would’ve died after he got the first kill. after you get a kill, reposition so enemies don’t know where to shoot! 2) Teammates(and how to not tilt): at 9:40, when we see dude’s teammate make a (VERY) questionable decision to drop into mid, he simply acknowledges it and moves on and focuses back in on his own gameplay. the only aspect of the game he can truly affect comes from his own decision making, not that of his team. there is absolutely no point in wasting energy complaining about teammates’ decisions, ESPECIALLY in the heat of a game. the occasional visit to r/saltoon can be cathartic, but remember, focus on what YOU can do to increase your chances of winning 3) Playing around the RM: look at how the game at 11:57 starts. almost *40* seconds pass before either team picks up the rm, but the shield was popped almost as soon as both teams reached mid. even when a team did pick it up, they gained only about 4 points before instantly losing it. on the other hand, when dude’s team had a decent man advantage AND special advantage and picked up the rm, they breezed through the checkpoint. SUCCESSFUL PUSHES IN ANY RANKED MODE RELY ON SPECIAL AND MAN ADVANTAGE. tl,dr: love this series, a couple things: 1) after you get a kill, reposition 2) don’t waste energy complaining about teammates 3) secure a solid advantage before making a push can’t wait to see more of this, dude!

Thank you so much, I love playing Splatoon but i’m a bit scared of Anarchy/Ranked modes and I’m so glad you are starting this series as this will help so many people learn how to play the objective more!! Oh also a tip for all of you in the comments: depending on the type of weapon you play, your play style will be different! Dude is playing Splattershot Pro, which is a Slayer weapon (there are three weapon types: Support, Slayer, and Anchor) so his main goal is to push and get kills for his team! Support players stay back and spam their specials and subs and turf as much as they can! Anchor players stay back and take out enemies from afar hence the name anchor! Just to help you guys a bit more :)

how worried do you think you should be about an enemy figuring out your position when they toss a bomb out seemingly just trying to paint or maybe poke and it damagess you, thus letting them know someone was close enough to it to get hit? good example being the fizzy bomb that gets some outside hits on you at 15:00

I am one of those people who thinks way too hard about things sometimes. I always wonder who should pick up rainmaker and when, I know generally you want to push when you have more people alive than the other team. But I also wonder who should pick it up and which roles in the team are more vital to keep the rainmaker safe. I usually play heavy backline weapons so I don't know if it should be me.

The craziest thing to see pro play to me isn't the gunplay, it's the discipline to not jump to teammates who are unsafe, even when there are 3 members out on the battlefield. I've had games where any given teammate will jump to me in enemy territory, without stealth jump, when I'm the only player alive. It does not end well for them. STOP JUMPING TO TEAMMATES WHO AREN'T SAFE, PEOPLE.

@@dometalican1990 These are just my opinions, and I'm not trying to start anything =) The new maps are terrible, splatoon 2 looks better, the spawn mechanics are awful, spawn camping is ridiculous compared to splatoon 2, I couldn't even play 2 matches without connection errors and it hardly feels like a new game. Splatoon 2.3 would've been a more fitting name. Every match I played just felt like a "who can spawn camp first", and that's just not fun for anyone. I'm not the greatest player (averaged between 2000 - 2200 X power in splatoon 2), but yeah I wasn't having fun. The new stuff is great and single player was fun, but there was no magic for me like there was when I first played splatoon 1 and 2. I wish I liked the game, but for now I'm done with the series.

I'm really not liking the ranked system all being combined because I'm encountering a lot of S ranked players that don't have a clue about the basic strategy of rainmaker. They must have gotten to S rank in zones and then they're trying rainmaker for the first time. The separate ratings in Splatoon 2 was much better. It at least made sure that everyone you're playing with understood the game mode.
