How To Auto-Map Arturia Keylab MKII MIDI Controller to Analog Lab + V Collection in FL Studio

Arturia was kind enough to send me their Keylab MKII MIDI controller. Since then, I've had a few people ask me how to MIDI map their controller to their analog lab and V Collection in FL Studio. I've included some additional tips as well!

Broooo… its crazy how theirs no videos on hooking this up to a daw🤯 my pads where essentially playing all the notes and not the keys themselves. Seeing you set the keyboard to a generic controller literally fixed my issue. It makes sense now, but i had it as the mkii option instead🤦🏽‍♂️ thank you bro

You know what's funny...after I talked about how much I love synth action keys in the video I posted today, I actually am considering adding an fully weighted 88 key controller to my setup once I move into my new place in a few months. Perhaps it'll be another Keylab MKII! Let me know how ya like it...specifically how you like the hammer action of the keys.

@@Inflightmuzik Ahh I grew up playing piano, so synth action keyboards drives me up the wall sometimes. The hammer action on this is just amazing. I got it mostly for piano/harpsichord prac and for Synthwave stuff :) After spending 40 mins doing scales this morning, it's just so so nice :)

@@mobtek I definitely wouldn't mind having a nice hammer action in my setup. We had a Yamaha Clavinova at the house way before started making beats. I truly loved how the feeling was when playing piano. Just feels more expressive. So it would be nice to have that feeling back.

@@juliozavala5038 for me it was def the piano action and the weight but as I'm composing a heap of harpsichord music at the moment it's kinda too heavy compared to a harpsichord manual :) and I just preferred the 88 keys as I learnt piano on that sized keyboard and it just feels right.

i’m having an issue. i’m doing exactly what you are saying for the port so I can control the knobs. But mine won’t control the knobs and sliding knobs. i dont know if there is anything else

Hey, thanks for that video, it is of great help although i run into an issue, when everything is set as you said and i play a note, the note will played twice at the same time (phasing). when i set my omni preview midi channel on 1 it fixes the issue on the keys but not on the pad. if i also unset my keylab port to - - no phasing occur on the pad or keys but analog lab wont be "fully" integrated. I was sure somehow fl studio would be compatible as the other programs, really frustrating. i hope to hear from you.

You should be fine if you record your MIDI first and then turn on the port to adjust with your controller knobs and faders.

Wassup! Why not try to put your midi camera looking at your face, and your face cam at your midi! I think this will help the quality a lot !

Can you help to set up FL FPC with keylab 61 mkII pads? "Map notes for entire bank" doesn't work well in my case. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't find any advice anywhere...

I just tested map notes for entire bank...worked perfect. All I can tell you is click map notes for entire bank, then just hit the pad you want on your keylab to control the pad that is flashing on the fpc. I literally have no other advice other than to do everything I showed in this video and what I just said.

hey man!! great video. i had a problem i recently ran into.. whenever i turn off my arturia keylab plugin (synth), the plugin still plays because the keys are connected to the plugin and it still plays even when i turned it off in the channel rack. do you have the same thing?

Yep, just turn the port off. Instead of 0 like I showed in the video, switch back to - -

just turning off the green light in the channel rack won’t work, but I found out that it works perfect if you just turn down the volume of analog lab in the Channel rack. That way you don’t need to switch the input port to - - - everytime 👍🏼it’s much faster. I tested recording. It also won’t record the analog lab instruments or what ever by just turning down the volume. Kinda strange but it works!

There's gotta be a better fix than this. I use Arturia vsts and their midi controller is making that worse. There's gotta be a better solution

Works for android and iOS according to their website. Always check the website to save yourself time from waiting for a KZbin reply in the future. You’ll get an answer for yourself much faster.

Remember to only turn on the port for the instrument channel you want to control.

@@wgnwBash No, but I think one of my subs made a midi script that fixes this issue. I haven't had time to check it out yet so I can't confirm or deny. But if it works, I'll make a video for it for sure.

Really need your help. Ive followed your instructions and everything is working but when i try to record knob and slider tweaks in Pigments or any of the V collection nothing records. Analog lab works fine in recording. Thanks in advance

Move parameter you want to tweak with your plugin. Then from FL's menu select Tools and Last Tweaked and then Link to Controller. Move the control you want to us on your keyboard. Now those are linked. Now it will record those movements you make with your controller into FL Studio.

@@easyneal I'm not sure what you're doing different. All I can recommend is starting from the top and working your way through it again to see what you might be doing different.

That’s literally only 1 step you did. Gotta follow along the video. Sounds like your missing quite a bit of info there. I did a whole lot more than set analog lab to 0

I was trying to say something else, which is: regarding what you mentioned at 4:15, about how Analog Lab still plays when you play other instruments, I was wondering what is there to do if let's say, instead of the Synth in your video I would want yet another instrument from Analog Lab. the method in your video would not work as it will shut down both instruments, correct?

@@absolutelygnarly Only turn on the port in the instance of analog lab (or whatever instrument) you want to control with the faders and sliders of your arturia controller. Don't turn it on if you're just using the keyboard and not the faders and knobs. The keyboard functions normally when you switch instrument channels when no port is selected in the channel.
