Around my town all the nail specialists use dip only to do everything. I find my nails are very flimsy and bend, crack and lift easily. I’m tired of it so, I’m buying your gel kit to learn how to do it myself. I’ll work my way up to your acrylics.

Given my history of allergies (in my early 20s I became allergic to dish soap - though that passed eventually!), I probably would have developed my gel allergy anyway, but I do so wish I'd seen this video before I started using hybrid gel. I'm having my patch tests next week, so I still may be able to use some acrylics/monomers/gels, but I certainly made each one of the errors (apart from the lamps) described here. And now I'm having to be patch tested because some of the chemicals are used in orthopaedic cement, and I'm waiting for knee replacement surgery, and that could be a real problem! Some of these chemicals are used in dentistry as well (it's where they started off!) So allergies to gel & acrylics isn't just a matter of having to avoid nail extensions and polishes. Please, please, please, everyone: listen to what Susie says - avoid contact with the skin and help prevent allergies!!

I love hybrid gel! I’ve found when using alcohol over 80% it can cause some polygel to cure cloudy, and that cloudiness doesn’t go away. You can also use your gel base coat in place of alcohol or slip solution and I really like that method. A couple years ago I told another nail tech about it bcuz she was having problems with one brand being too sticky, and she snapped at me "that’s NOT how you use polygel!" funny enough she recently posted a video "new method to using polygel" raving about how the base coat works so much better with harder, sticker hybrid gels 🙄 kinda made me want to be petty and comment "that’s NOT how you use it!" 😅 but I wouldn’t actually do that bcuz it’s not going to solve anything. It just irritated me bcuz she had no reason to snap at me when she did, just bcuz she hadn’t heard of it yet at the time doesn’t mean I was "wrong" I’ve also learned since starting to use hybrid gel that I have to use a base coat on my nail and cure it before I start sculpting the nail otherwise it will start lifting in a couple weeks. Weirdly enough I don’t have that happen with hard/builder gel 🤷♀️
@weirdrabbitgirl2 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say; I’ve had some issues with different alcohols before, so I just break down and buy the specifically formulated slip solutions. I have no idea if there’s any difference at all. But born pretty and other online sellers have small bottles of slip solution for super cheap anyway, so I just cave lol
@krystalfukinmarie7572 жыл бұрын
@@weirdrabbitgirl Yes, those bottles of slip solution are so good! I’ve never found an ingredient list for one, so I have no idea what’s in them but they have no smell so I know it’s not alcohol 🤷♀️

I had an alergy to gel too I found that it happened because I used very cheap gel, either it didn't cure properly or I got it on my skin. I recommend you try known brands like makart or bluesky and make sure you use a base coat (thin layer) and thin layer of colour gel polish then thin of top coat and cure all of them properly without touching your skin and you won't get the alergy anymore. I even had it so bad that my natural nail was lifting from my bed, but now I don't have any problems anymore. If you ever want gel in the future, I hope this helps

I just did hybrid gel nails for the first time over the weekend and they ended up way too thick because I couldn’t get the color opaque enough without them being thick. But I was also just doing it with one coat. This makes so much more sense. I was using a pop it to put it on but I tried to just use a form instead and it worked much better but also ended up thick but I filed it down some and it looks much better than the others. This video is so detailed and really helped me understand how to make them opaque but not so thick.

I don’t believe or think I can do nails for a second but i didn’t think the polygel was going to be so HARD!!! They won’t stay on and I’ve brought the primer, dehydrator and still don’t stay on they snap in half or to think at the length. I love your videos, you explain so well‼️ Here’s 2 questions I still have: 1) Do you use any type of primer or dehydrator after filing natural nail and brushing off dust⁉️ 2) I get air bubbles under my poppits even though it appears there isn’t any bubbles prior to curing. Is it because the hybrid gel isn’t curing all the way through⁉️ I gave up on hybrid gel after investing in quite the stash of product. I am going to try again curing thin layers as you describe and see if that helps. It’s so frustrating when I spend hours making my nails look pretty then a day later the whole nail pops off…never breaks just flies off with little to no stress in the nail. Many thanks for all your wonderful videos‼️
@NailCareerEducation2 жыл бұрын
You can BUT there’s no guarantee it will work 100% - it might but you don’t know til you try - air bubbles- sounds like not enough product - you want a solid piece of hybrid - no holes in it. And sweetie if you’re doing all the work and all the effort and they’re popping off it may have nothing to do with your application and more to do with the prep of the natural nail. Revisit your preparation steps. And remember hyper gel needs to be applied very thin the more colour it has the thinner it should be. Do it in layers especially if you’re dealing with red black green purple deep colours
@CrimeSpies2 жыл бұрын
I may faint…Suzie replied to me‼️🤩 I just watched your acrylic nail prep from a few years ago. I don’t use an alcohol prep before acrylic primer or hybrid base perhaps that’s the problem🧐 I also don’t snip off my proximal folds and they are DEEP…I could E-file the skin around my nails for hours and skin would still be sloughing off. I’ve been trying scrubbing them with pumice to thin them down. Must be genetic 🤷🏼♀️ Many thanks‼️ My triplet daughters are 15 now and really getting used to having their nails done in the salon but realizing it does cost so much money to maintain. I just reminded them last week there’s 3 of them so it makes more sense to do each other’s nails…mama has all the acrylic and hybrid products, lights, nail art, files, drills, etc. I’ve pointed them to your videos in the past so when I tell them you replied they might pay more attention. God Bless You for ALL You DO‼️‼️🙏🏻

Thank you for your wonderful videos! I learn so much from you. One thing about layering polygel is after a while I get separation of each layers.. one layer would lift from the one below Do you have an idea why that happens..? 🤔 I tried not wiping the sticky layer between layers, applying base coat between layers, or filing the surface between layers None of them worked so far.. and it would happen with translucent hybrid gels from several different companies

I have a question about the gelish polygel kit. I'm wondering if I can use dual forms with it like other hybrid gels? I did watch your video on the gelish kit but it wasn't mentioned. I tried and the dual nail wouldn't come off at all no matter what I tried so I just ended up filing it off. I'm brand new at this and I really love watching your videos to learn from you! Thank you for taking the time reply!
