How to Avoid Being Knocked-Out in the Opening?

I also tend to avoid main opening variants, especially the tactical ones, because i don't want to study all those pesky lines and rather just play chess :D 10:14 It's quite a common and natural move to castle, if f2/f7 is attacked twice that way. But avoid castling into a checkmate :D

@der_baerlauch Yes, you’re right. Sometimes it’s good to castle into the storm. Sometimes it’s not the right thing to do. It’s a complex matter.

Very humiliating to lose early in the game. I had an acquaintance who always delayed castling so that he could develop his pieces. Leaving his king in the center consistently lost him the game.
