Select the right valve for your application. (Globe valve is less prone to cavitation as compared to Butterfly valve) . In water and liquid systems with high pressure drop, use an anti-cavitation valve. Use multiple control valves or multistage control valves so that the pressure drop happens gradually rather than all at once. This is called pressure drop staging.

Nice logical explanation. But don't you think using 2 valves is an uneconomical solution as compared to using multistage trim? And how will the control signal control both the valves?

Yes you are correct , That is way 99 percent of time engineers prefer multi-stage design instead of multiple valves

Butterfly valves have more prone to cavitation because less pressure drop compare to Globe valves.

Hi Asad.. Nice videos with conceptual & logical explanation which every Instrumentation engineer want to know... Would love to see more videos on Control system part like DCS, ESD system, SIL rating concept and most importantly Serial communication types, when to use which type depending on the length of cable, protocol etc. Keep it up!!!

Nice vedio thanks a lot I have one question in butterfly valve we dont have single stage or multitude trim so what's thé solution to avoir cavitation in bfv ? Is There any butterfly design (disc with holes) to avoid cavitation ?

Your question really made me think !!! The below post from ISA should help solve the query blog.isa.org/how-to-prevent-cavitation-butterfly-control-valves Good Question, Please ask such insightful question in the future as well !!😊

Waiting for Process Parameter video. But who will take decision to select out of two methods - Process team or Instrumentation team?

A very Good Question, Instrumentation usually try to go with valve modifications because it is their baby (Because process point of view as you would have seen in video in multi stage the FINAL pressure can be maintained same P2) however Instrumentation can recommend to process team if the Valve can be move closer to pump etc since this is more cost effective . In short for Valve Modification Instrumentation has upper hand to take decision. In Process parameter Instrumentation can take decision but after consultation with 3rd parties like process department , piping department etc but it is worth the efforts since we can save a lot of cost by using these methods. Hope i was able to answer the question. !! Your passion Balaji, to learn instrumentation drove me to write such a detailed answer 😊

Why you not use only 1 small valve? P1=100 P2=87.5 then only1 valve can avoid cavitation. And how did you know small valve can increase P2. Then if process flashing occurs just only change smaller valve to increase P2 Did I understand correctly?

Good Question if we just have 1 small valve then the the CV of the valve will be low and we also have to balance CV . You can watch the video on the channel , what is CV in Control valve to understand better or let me know if i have understood correctly your question
