This stuff is hard. I appreciate your standpoint. I think you portray a strong sense of wisdom and integrity. I’ve recently struggled with the moral compass. Probably on the opposite side from you though haha. Part of my work is playing in a cover band for neurodivergent adults. Recently there’s been a few religious songs that were associated with big name southern preachers. Those preachers had direct influence in causing my loved ones grief and exclusion. I’m trying to balance patience with people that are different than me while also holding strong as I cannot in good conscience play the music requested. Still haven’t figured how to resolve this. Sorry for the blog post, but I needed to get my thoughts out about this. Thanks

Cool stuff! I'm not a veteran player or have a steady stream of gigs, but my rule is "Good money, good songs, good people - there must be at least two of these things" if I'm going to take a gig.

Great advice , keeping yourself together morally especially can be hard ,lots of temptations on the road, besides keeping things together at home is even more important .. Haven't always like the songs we played but learned A LOT from the Genres ... Gut feelings mean a lot ,especially when your brain reminds you of the consequences .. Thanks for sharing your experiences ..
