Love this! I recently got a raise and was going to put it towards something else---then I had to fight myself and say, "No, put it toward baby step #3, 3-6 - months fully funded emergency fund!"

Experiences over stuff! As a very wise man once told me, "You can only wear one dress at a time!"

I recently got a pay increase, part went to savings and the other to Roth IRA. I calculated what the increase would be and updated my direct deposit accordingly. I didn’t even let the money hit my checking account. I’ve been doing this for the past three years and my net worth had increased tremendously.

Totally understand, we also do not exchange gifts, but do experiences. A budget is all important, no matter what your income is. Just aussie pensioners living our best lives, thank you for your wise words

I've actually become very content. I feel like I'm being cheap to myself. I still give to the less fortunate & to elect certain politicians who stand for what I stand for! I just feel I don't need anything material. I've actually felt like something was wrong with me because most ppl always want. I do love experiences. I love to travel. All I can say is GOD'S given me great contentment.

Perfect timing. Thank your taking about lifestyle creep. It’s important to keep inventory of finance decisions made over the last year. I think staying off social media is imperative to keeping a managing lifestyle creep. Keeping adds and pictures out of sight, abstains me from the urge to buy trends to keep up with the Jone’s. Thank you!

Yeah I’m balancing lifestyle creep by being frugal in the areas that aren’t very important (car) and more on health and travel.

Now that I have rental cash flow, I am putting 100% of my W2 (side hustle) income into retirement accounts. I am determined to live on the same income. I retired early because I keep my expenses low.

Great advice. DO you think it is better to pay off your house first or make payments and have investments
@thebrokenwallet
@thebrokenwallet 4 ай бұрын
Honestly, I think it’s a personal choice. I’ve heard of people paying off their house in 5 to 7 years, and then focusing all their effort on investing. I suggest speaking with a financial advisor who can take a deeper look at your situation to see what makes sense for you.
