Why is this so relatable
@MrRogalick8 ай бұрын
When I was in school I dreamed of Nintendo DS. And was arguing with my friend about PSP vs NDS, and we both didn't have anything. So when I got into university and after a few years I could get enough money from a scholarship to buy 3DS I did that. But I haven't money for anything else, just put SD card and looked through the E-shop for demos. Awakening blew my mind so hard, I wasn't ready for that.

No discussion about the game itself but it's refreshing to hear a focus on the experience instead

It’s a shame Awakening gets a lot of stick from Fire Emblem fans, especially older ones. It’s a really fun game and it introduced a lot of people to the series (like both of us). I’ve always had the same mentality of trying new things, whether it be food, games, activities. Keeps life fresh and interesting and you never know what you will enjoy. Also I got to bitch about ROMs. I get companies cracking down on ROMs of current games but old games they’re not even monetising anymore and have no way of purchasing from the company? Nah. I don’t want to give 100s of dollars to some guy in the hopes it even works I’d rather pay reasonable prices to the people who made it.

I’m happy I own all the English fire emblem games physically but half the time I still end up playing emulated versions on steam deck anyway. I would appreciate some more “echoes” style games though!

Awakening was one of my first FE game, and I've never understood what was so fun about it, the difficulty is terribly balanced. And it's not like Thracia where it hilights story beats. There's probably some fun to be had with this game, and my tastes in FE games being pretty specific (I don't enjoy playing without iron manning the game anymore), I'm clearly far from the game's target demographic, but even then, I think it fails in many aspects

It's so funny watching youtubers from my same generation, it really helps to see how we have had really similar experiences, for example the importance of the 3ds in our teenage/come of age years, in my case it was my official introduction to Zelda with OOT remake. But I came across your channel specifically looking for something completely new to play, in this case FE, with hopes that it will blow my mind as some other games have done in the past, just like you said. Also, Xenoblade Chronicles changed my life as well, what a masterpiece. Great video man

Bro I know this might sound too similar but I was the same only playing Pokemon until Fire Emblem Three Houses and Celeste changed my entirety taste. Now I am trying out so many jrpgs and other game genres that I had no idea about. Your video was amazing bro. It even made me feel kinda emotional 🥲.

Glad you enjoyed. I think Pokémon is a good gateway game but imo other jrpgs are just so ahead of them with polish it’s just hard for me to go from playing Xenoblade 3 to Scarlet/Violet. That’s just me though

I think I'm kind of in a similar boat as you with you but not for the same type of reason. I became interested in Fire Emblem around my late highschool years and Fire Emblem as a whole really (I emulated the GBA games before jumping into the 3DS titles) was kind of like the transitional period for me to go from playing games like Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Jak & Daxter etc (mainly platformers) to playing stuff like JRPGs, Souls borne games, visual novels etc. I never really got video game burnout YET! I can't really say that Fire Emblem got me interested in anime though since I was already dipping my toes into anime with shows like Attack On Titan, Sword Art Online and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood before playing a Fire Emblem game but the anime aesthetic did make me interested in Fire Emblem.

When I started watching this, I had thoughts about how a chance encounter with a game can open opportunities for other games (eg FE Awakening). That had me thinking of my moment a few years ago - I bought my girlfriend Xenoblade DE and 3, as she'd only played 2 and wanted the others. I'd never heard of it. I wasn't too impressed at first, but a strange feeling hit me as I watched her traipse through Makna Forest. I asked if I could give it a go, and from then on, I've beaten all 3 mainline games and DLC. It's also hightened my curiosity for other games like Nier, FE and other Xeno series games. This is coming from someone like yourself who avoided anything that even resembled a JRPG. Essentially, I'm glad a gave it a go as it's changed my perspective entirely on games. It was a nice surprise to see it appear in this video.

For me, it was Three Houses that sparked my love for video games again I already had beat the game but it never really clicked on the first playthrough so a couple years later I beat it again and damn im still playing it to this day Also playing FE7 which is thanks to TH… I dont game much anymore but when i got some spare time, i go on my recent bookmark save and just have fun! Also I should probably give XCDE a 2nd chance Didn’t love it despite adoring 2 and 3

Pokemon came "late" to my life (I started in 2017 with FR), so I have never experienced the decadence and disconnection that some fans feel with the current state of the franchise, even so, at one point I felt tired, so I stopped playing video games for a while, playing Mother 3 and Fire Emblem were a breath of fresh air (apart from indies like Ori). My biggest recommendation to avoid burnout is to play different genres and take breaks.

Funny you should mention FGO, however briefly, bc I've been experiencing that game through cutscene compilations on KZbin (which reminds me, I need to finish watching Olympus), and it has just made me fall completely in love with the Fate series. Maybe starting Fate/Samurai Remnant, a game of a genre I've never played before (Warriors style hack-and-slash), will cure my own burnout... (also let me just say Awakening is PEAK Fire Emblem and I really must return to my own playthrough of that game lmao I'm like smack in the middle of chapter 11)
@GramKraken9 ай бұрын
I really enjoyed FGO for like 2 years but then Fire Emblem Heroes came out and got addicted to that and realized how awful the gatcha rates were in FGO and never went back
@TekkenGirl4Lyfe9 ай бұрын
@@GramKraken Look, wrt gacha games, my mindset is that the best way to play them is to not actually play them. Just get a taste of the story from like a video that puts all the cutscenes together and if you like it enough, keep watching. That's how I "play" FGO and how I got so far in lmao but that's just me
