This is exactly what I needed today. I got my first frontside a little while back and it was a big deal for me, I've been skating ledges and rails exclusively after eating it trying to touch coping on ramps. It took me a long time to get comfortable touching coping. I just avoided it completely and the assumption I would fall became a big mental hurdle. After watching this I know now to find some concrete to practice the motion on, and how to build towards that incrementally rather than guessing my own methods. I wish I had more bladers in my community to inspire and teach me but this is the next best thing. soon I'll have every part of the ramps in the bag. sending vibes from San Diego! 🌼

@@kristenmoon4405 oh man this was months ago, fun to look back at. I'm getting pretty talented at navigating transition now, and I have souls/mizu/FS/BS all in the pocket now regular & switch. I am student though with the privilege of skating like a part-time job

Thanks to this video I finally was able to backside stall on the big quarter pipes at the park. Before I was trying to get above the coping and kind of do a 180 pivot on top of the coping but I kept overshooting it. The tip about keeping your body inside the ramp was the key!

Love your form with your arms in front of you like a mantis. I've been trying it and found that my problem was that I was swinging my arms back and forth. I've got way more power. Thanks for these tutorials they are awesome. You are awesome.

Biggest thing that I’m struggling with right now is trying to learn how to do the whole 180 pivot when going up the ramp. I keep falling in the worst way. Lmao. Thank you for your awesome videos. Welcome to our little corner of the world. ( I’m in SC )

Great tutorial. You totally read my mind about boosting out of the ramp and using that 'safety foot' - I've been doing it now for five years 🤷🏻‍♂️😅. Getting low and bending the knees properly looks and feels like it could be key. Hoping with your help it won't be another five years till I get backside stall.

Never thought about doing that on a pyramid without coupling. I have been doing front side stalls for over a year and I have commented on doing 180 to backside like that.

Are you keeping your eyes on where your feet land on the coping? Or are you trusting that your feet placement will lock in when you turn? I feel like if I have to keep looking down at where my feet laying on the coping, that’s going to affect my bodies turning

For some reason I can get this on a 2 foot quarter bank, but for some reason I can't quite get it on the 3 foot mini. I keep landing with one foot either side of the coping, parallel. I have videos of my attempts on my channel. Any advice?
@flowersherolls1700
@flowersherolls1700 Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for being here and sharing your process. Do you mean one of your feet aren’t stalling and landing BEHIND the coping? this means you arent committing to leaning inside the ramp. As you turn around 180, keep you body INSIDE the ramp. It sounds like you are hesitating and leaning back a tad bit too much. The higher we get on ramps, the more fear revolves in our heads. The higher you get on the ramp, “think” the stronger the commitment, okay? You’ve got it. I know you do. Trust your process. One love 🌱

@@flowersherolls1700 thanks so much fpr the reply, much appreciated! So, one foot on the deck and one on the ramp, both parallel to the coping. Like i'm doing a 90 instead of a 180. I think you are spot on, i'm not fully committing. I decided this week to go to a few different parks, to hit up some different size and shape banks. Really try to lock in that muscle memory before going back to the mini. Thanks for what you are doing, i appreciate you! One love! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

@@flowersherolls1700 i got so much closer today, not quite a stall but big progress. I was jumping to the coping rather than riding the transition up to the coping. This was sending my momentum out of the ramp and throwing my balance off. Feeling so good now after months of frustration. One love

Once again I am inspired to go out and hug the concrete and kiss it with my butt cheeks again and again until I can do this thing that apparently is only slightly harder then the easiest stall out there. Oh what's that winter is coming, oh thank god, I can barely sit at all.
