Final adjustments on the crossfire throttle body's after rebuilding them and adjusting the fuel presure this would be the last step. This balances out the engine so that both side of the engine are receiving the same amount of fuel and air. This can be done on any GM crossfire car the throttle body's are adjusted the same way on the 305 crossfires in the Firebirds and Camaro's as it is done in the 350 Corvettes in both the 1982 and 1984 models. I hope this helps! Please go to my playlist to see all the other video's on rebuilding and all other adjustments I think there are 4 other videos on this subject.

Love the series. The process reminds me of matching the Strombergs on my TR6. My other toys include a 66 GTO TriPower and an 84 Vette. I suppose I have a thing for complicated intake systems!

WOW, You sure do like the complicated things🤣. Thanks for watching, I glad you enjoy them. Some are defiantly better then others fortunately I'm a better mechanic then a film maker. 🤣Thanks for the comment!

Great video, thank you for sharing, this really helps. One thing however that's bothering me is the manometer reading for 6" vacuum. With suction on one end of the tube and atmospheric pressure on the other end, I think that 6" of vacuum is equal to the difference between the water levels in the two tubes, and not the initial zero datum. Starting from the zero datum I would expect 6" vacuum equivalent to one side of the column up 3" and the other down by 3", resulting in a total head of 6". Thanks

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure it works that way. It's 6" of water column not 6" of vacuum and I don't beleive they are the same or an equal measement. I do know that you should not adjust carburetors with vacuum gages as the are unsteady do to valve overlap which would give you a poor adjustment and this is why most multi. cylinder motorcycles were adjusted with mercury sticks of course thats hard to find anymore. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm assuming this is by the book? I think i saw a video that they adjusted the throttle bodies then adjusted the linkage to zero. Guess it really doesn't matter if both are reading the same. Have you put the bushings on the throttle shafts yet, that's the main reason they get out of sync. Really helps and the car runs much smoother at idle. Great video. 👍🏻

Thank you, I did not put bushings in the shafts I completely rebuilt both throttle body's and the shafts were tight so I left them alone and yes this was done by the book. I started my career at Pontiac around 1980 and 1982 the Trans Am's came out with this engine configuration so It was what I started my career with and this is why I bought this year Corvette. Thanks for watching!

@84c4corvetteguy5 I worked for a Dodge dealer earlier in my career and was one of the first viper certified technicians in Columbus ohio, then spent the last 28 years helping a friend build his Goodyear service business from one store to 7 stores, I just retired in January. Enjoyed watching your video and really appreciate someone who can explain the workings of the crossfire injection. Hopefully it can save a few from the carburetor switch. Keep up the good work 👏

Excellent work, I have the exact same car with only 8,000 miles and it stumbles & has a slight miss just off idle , but has plenty of power. I'm wondering if it needs the throttle bodies rebuilt. I've done the standard, plugs, wires, and fuel pump.

Probably couldn't hurt after 40 years those rubber diaphragms in the throttle body's are most likely leaking causing fuel pressure issues. I would also want to check the ignition timing as well which would be a lot easier place to start.

So I did what you suggested and my Corvette fired right up it was the ignition ignition control module I messed up my timing in the process and I can't seem to get it right when I give it a lot of gas at wants to die wants to die

Best way to calibrate crossfire is take it off, throw away in trash, then lastly install new carburetor and intake.
