I’d like to add that the passenger side is a little more difficult to access but by removing the air box and battery you can gain access to the two pivot bolts .

Also buy a ball joint remover! They're about $20 on amazon. One or both ball joints might be stuck to the knuckle so that will come in handy.

If the drivers side is in that bad of shape, I'm betting all the suspension is in bad shape on both sides as well. I predict you'll be changing suspension parts regularly for awhile. I just hope the new ones don't suffer from the old, failing ones. You probably had a lot of bad suspension in the rear, too. I decided to change all my suspension parts, front and rear, sway bar links and bushings, wheel bearings, CV axles, , dynamic damper on the rear, changed the fluid in the rear, got a new bearing pressed into the half axle shaft on the drivers side, and I had to change the steering rack. I also did the trailing arm bushings. I bought the tool to press them in on the truck. My rack was leaking and totally shot. It provided no stability at all. You could grab the tie rods and whip them around in any direction really fast, and you could push them in and out pretty far. My tires were also wearing quickly and unevenly. The rack was difficult, but it was easier while I had everything out of the wheel wells. I still had to drop the exhaust and transfer case (not hard surprisingly). Drain the transmission before you pull the transfer case, though. I had a drip of transmission fluid still coming out the whole time the transfer case was down, but it would have been a flood if the transmission had been full. I also changed the oil seals where the axles go into the transmission. I buggered the high pressure power steering line removing it from the rack, so I also replaced the line. Had to get an alignment as well. It rides like a new truck! Now I'm waiting for all my cuts and bruises to heal and my back to stop hurting!

so do you set the car down before doing the final tightening of the bolts, i mean within reason of course, but the weight shifts and settling into place doesnt hurt rt it? thank you for the video by the way!
@Wrenchlife6043 жыл бұрын
Yes. Do the final tightening or the last 1/4 turn of tightening when the vehicles on the ground.
