One reason why doubt asserts itself is that for every budding conviction we have, there are a thousand contrary voices, including those of our family members who tell us why our own convictions are not right

If they are against what you are doing, I would not tell them but would talk to my Buddhist friends instead.

Set your intention for what you want and then start chanting and let your mind do whatever it will.

You appear to be enlivened to your new(and not new) focus on life coaching(?). I save watching you for those times that my faith gives me a shake. I get to pick from years of tapes, choosing the subject that you’ve worked hard to send through the wringer, expelling all those extraneous devilish functions, uncovering a gem most every time. Thanks 😊

Always right on time. I need something to materialize in the "real world", have been chanting about it for a few years, and now, after listen to your guidance, will visualize it already having happened. Thanks for the reminder! Love you!🥰

I have a “how to” question. When I chant, I enjoy the fact that my mind empties out. The feeling is akin to what one experiences during meditation. I cannot think about any particular thing during chanting and still achieve a state of thoughtlessness. How then is it possible to chant “for” something, good health, better relationships, whatever?
@margaretblaine536711 ай бұрын
Just set your intention before you start chanting and then let your mind do what it wants.

How does this Nichiren Buddhism relate or compare to Pureland Buddhism? Amitabha salvation thru his vow vs our own efforts thru chanting the Lotus Sutra? Thank you. I am confused between the efficacy of the 2.
@margaretblaine53672 жыл бұрын
I don't really know how they compare. What I do know is that Nichiren said that the Pureland school was incorrect.
@exitthematrix14872 жыл бұрын
@@margaretblaine5367 that's interesting. Can you give me the reference as to where he discusses it? Many Vietnamese Pureland Buddhists ☸️ live near me.
@margaretblaine53672 жыл бұрын
@@exitthematrix1487 He wasn't discussing the Vietnamese schools. He was talking about Japanese Buddhist schools. In On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land is a discussion and also in the Background. for that sutra.

@@margaretblaine5367 my biggest question for you: you've been chanting for years. Has it REALLY helped you in tangible ways?? Life is so short. If there is a god, he's a joker. Hides all truth. Wants us to do an easter egghunt like children imho. Very frustrating.
@margaretblaine53672 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. My whole life turned around and became happy. I'm doing the work I came to do and love my life and what I'm doing. I have a happy marriage. Everyone I know who has practiced for a while has become happy and their lives are good.

First i want to thank you for creating these videos for us. Your videos have become my handbook of guidance to stay the course in this practice. Currently I am dealing with a strange problem in practising. I have faith in the powers of the Gohonzon. I keep reminding myself of the benefits and miracles i have received from this practice whenever doubt comes to mind. But somehow i have grown a very complacent attitude towards the practice. I keep thinking that Gohonzon is the most powerful tool i have to deal with any problem. But i keep it at the back of my head as the last resort, whenever I am dealing with a problem in my life and i keep strategizing myself as long as that works. When all strategies fail, then only i chant even though I know very well that i should have changed first. I have become very lazy towards chanting. How do I motivate myself to keep Gohonzon as my first resort and not last. Currently I am dealing with many problems in life. But somehow I fail to deal with this attitude of laziness towards chanting. I even introduced my mother to the practice who is chanting regularly. But that made me even more lazy and i keep thinking that my mother is chanting for me anyway and that will be enough, when i know it won't. Could you please give me some guidance regarding how to motivate myself to practice regularly again and overcome this attitude of laziness towards practice?
