You can’t always rely on bartering basic items that everyone already has. Your biggest chance of success is to have items that are unique, items you make yourself, and most importantly, skills you can provide.

Very comprehensive list that gives us a lot to consider. I like that you stress producing goods and providing services rather than just suggesting buying stuff from the store. Our modern, worldwide supply chain provides us wonderful access to all kinds of things, but is also extremely, extremely complex. I feel like a collapse would really just be a very rapid move from complexity to simplicity in our supply chains. I'd suggest that preparedness minded people go take a few hour walk and see how far they can travel (it's probably much shorter than you think). Then draw a circle around your house on a local map with a radius of that distance. Now view the area within that circle as what your new world and supply chain would be when shtf. Whatever people and resources you have within that circle are what you'd have to work with. The goal of preparedness is to make that circle as self-sufficient as possible for the humans, livestock and pets contained within.

@@TheBackwoodsHermit That hour walk radius is an awesome suggestion. Thanks for your input.

Thanks . I enjoyed the video. one item, which I think might be useful would be zinc oxide cream, and powder. It's antibiotic, and useful against "wet" eczema. Painkillers, such as codeine, will definitely be wanted. One warning -out off date penicillin will cause severe stomach pain. Cotton thread and a sewing needle can be used for stiching flesh. It's quite an easy skill to learn. Look foreward to the sewing video. since my wife got ill its a skill i've put of, but need to know.

@@robert-yv2yj Great suggestions! Good point about cotton thread and a sewing needle for stitching up wounds.
