U can use a quilt ruler edge, like a quick scrapper (try different size rulers for ur personal need) to smooth out wrinkles and air pockets for each layer of quilt being basted....the quilt ruler edge gives a smoother and more efficient and taut smoothing out than using the palms of ur hand.

Thank you for showing your way. I learned a little different where I didn't role it back up on the noodles. I think the way you did it will help me catch when I have a wrinkle then I can fix it then! Thank you so so much! I am going to try it next time!

Yes! I thought about storing quilts rolled up on noodles as they wait for finishing. I think I'd use a layer of batting around the plastic once or twice first to prevent any color bleeding or plastic smell transfer into the fabric. LOL I can just see us quilters hauling rolled pool noodles in to the quilt stores looking for a backing!! :-D

Thank you so much for this video. I enjoyed the Visual without all the talking about how to do each step. It was short and to the point. I needed this, as I don't have a long arm or a mid arm. Was looking to get a John Flynn Quilt Frame, but this looks slot easier.

What a neat idea. I will have to give that a try, hopefully I can find pool noodles since the stores are switching over to winter already. Hope you can give an update of your Kimberbell weekend and the finished wreath quilt how you quilted it. You get so much done in your sewing room and you are working full time and I retired at 64 yr old can't seem to get in my sewing room as much as I would like this summer--maybe too much weeding, canning, and freezing with the garden.

Hi there! I got my noodles at the dollar store. Yes, we have to pick and choose what we do with our time. I do have lots of time savers like the crock pot, Instant Pot, and a time delay on my washer. But still things need to get done. We don't have a garden and I do some canning when my friends' gardens overproduce. What I don't do is spend time in front of the TV. Since I discovered that my blood pressure dropped significantly the more time I spend in the sewing room, I try to be there as much as possible. Thanks for watching!

I tried this. It doesn’t work unless you have a ton of backing and batting to waste. Impossible to keep it straight.
@adventureswithfabric6710
@adventureswithfabric6710 4 жыл бұрын
If you were to take a quilt to a long armer, you’d have to add about 5” on all sides for top and batting, so this is pretty much the same. I’ve had to reroll when I tried to get away without some extra backing, so I was glad I had pinned instead of sprayed.

Yes, I'm using 505 (I use my 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby). I really like it and I don't notice any fumes. Then I pin baste just because of the humidity in my area. I don't want anything shifting. Thanks for watching!

Sorry my first quilt is a queen
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, for a queen you'll want to use two noodles for each part. Use a 24" piece of PVC or other more narrow tubing to attach them end-to-end. If you can't find the bumpy part of your batting, I wouldn't worry about it. If you can't find it outside of the fabric, it won't matter when it's inside. :)
