I've been using sims since I was 9 and I'd love to get content on how do you guys perform weight and balance on the 737, and on how do you compare the parameters suggested by the flight plan to the performance of the aircraft in flight. A detailed video explaining an airline flight plan and a video explaining what ACARS is and how do you use it.

Interesting video, thanks. I can really relate to the impressions given to the general public with proper uniform, or not. I've attended several symphonies, and the orchestra folks are always formally dressed and look professional. At one point I had an opportunity to attend a dress rehearsal with my son's school group. I hadn't thought about it, but in the dress rehearsal the performers were not in their usual formal outfits -- jeans, slacks, ordinary shirts, etc., was the norm. What a surprise that was. The performance was still superb, even when they stopped to go back to improve a section, but the overall feeling was entirely different.

Thanks alot for the video Sir my dad is also a Captain and he is constantly telling me what your videos show. One video I'd like to see for all the folks out there who don't know is your attitude and work ethic when you first get selected as I notice many new pilots will hit a brick wall when they first experience the demanding nature of the flight deck (thinking that once training is over they have made it) and Id also like to hear how many Sim checks, EPs, etc. You do each year as newbies at Flying school usually have no idea what awaits them.

For me, the more technical your videos are the better. BTW what happened to the white dog that used to sleep on your sofa? Your work is really helpful. I would have loved to fly commercial when I can out of school 40 years ago, but in those days if you did not have perfect 20/20 vision to start, you could not get hired as a pilot or even in air traffic control. So, after a number of side trips, I became a physics teacher. I still love the technology and play around with flight sim when I have the time. You channel is a breath of fresh air and I thank you for doing it. Henri

Had the final interview with a big German carrier today. When I was asked how I would react if the Captain would make an error or do things "his way" I used the example starting at 6:00. I failed the interview. The reason: Lack of assertiveness. I was given the result with feedback right after the interview. The captain said an FO should directly state the problem. If one of his FOs would ever start asking questions like this THAT is how he would get pissed off... So use this video with care. Seams plausible for us newbies but watch out when using this as a reference for your job interviews.

+Mentour Pilot I was asked to give an example how I would (I have no line experience yet) handle a captain, who disregards rules. I used the exact same example except I said 260 kts instead of 300 kts. I talked to a check captain I personally know of Lufthansa last night and he completely agreed that this questioning tactic has no place in the dynamic cockpit environment, especially with safety related things like speeds. He said if one did this question thing twice during a sim check he would fail him. No place for harmony! Maybe German safety/CRM culture is different.

Fugbaum: I think this is typical for Germany, because Safety is more important than everything in Germany. But if you talk to ATC and you didn't understand something you also say "say again" and not "please say again". What airline was it btw? Lufthansa, airberlin, condor?

Very nice video, I loved it and will suggest it. Funny that as copilot I had to learn those hard way. In future I would like to hear about the captain decision making. What do you do before flight, at briefing, on ground etc. The thinking the captains do while siting with me on briefing. The tricks when trying to save fuel, or lower the reserve. How to deal with "smart" or more senior (older) copilots, when you are young captain etc. thank you!

Nice video, and intro! And thanks for making these videos, they are fantastic! I'd personally like to see more lifestyle videos. One of the things which really appeals to me about being a pilot is the lifestyle pilots live, especially in comparison to a 'typical' 9-5 office job say. I'd love to see a video where you talk about the different lifestyles involved with different sorts of flying jobs (Regional to international to bush etc - if you can). In terms of working hours, how much is in the cockpit and how much is not, time off to focus on other aspects of life (quite a big area of curiosity for me - I know pilots usually aren't 5 days, 9-5 workers. I got the impression from your other videos its more like X days on then Y days off), and any other differences you can think of. I'm curious because for me, although I know my job is going to be a big part of my life, I'd like it to just be a part of who I am and not entirely define me (by taking up all my waking hours). Is there still time to keep healthy and fit, to socialize, to maintain hobbies (for example I like to go out and do social Latin dancing at various venues in whatever city I'm in), to find love/date etc. Which sort of flying jobs may offer a more 'balanced' or 'integrated' life? (Not really sure if that's up to the airline or an aspect of the type of job, bit I'd love to hear your thoughts). Which sort of flying jobs have huge commitment hours and which are a lot more relaxed? A friend of mine at my uni told me their dad (an Emirates A380 captain) works 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off - is that a special circumstance or is that fairly standard (or is my friend exaggerating)? In which cases? I live in Australia as well - thought I'd mention that as I understand it can be very different in other countries, especially USA. A final thing would be, for each flying job you're able to talk about, how much is in the cockpit and how much is 'in the office'? Is all pilot work just in, or literally to do with operating and maintaining the aircraft, or is there components where you're at a desk doing a lot of 'paper work'? Hopefully I didn't overload you with questions haha, you did ask though ;) Cheers Tommy

How can you improve much on the first rate advice you have just given. I’m sure a lot of new first officers 👮‍♀️ would of fallen over backwards to fly with a captain such as yourself. The CRM is so so important and in my early days of military flying I used to have an instructor who would whack your knuckles with a ruler if he had thought you had missed something or you where doing something wrong. He also wouldn’t tell you what it was, hence with the stress of the situation and trying to figure out what you had done my flying would start to become a secondary issue. This eventually I heard had an effect on him eventually when they started to realise that his pass rates where half as low as other instructors. So much time and I’m sadly sure many a career was wasted due to this guy. This was flying the good old jet provosts. So we where sat in tandem, much happier when on the hawks at RAF Valley in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. The training was much more intense but I had a great couple of instructors there and also no way for them to reach you during flight. Also I never heard a raised voice at Valley, just good constructive feedback. What was supposed to be the more difficult part of training I actually found easier. Can I ask what airline you fly for, I bet you know the Spain- UK route like the back of your hand by now. I would happily be a passenger on any jet that you where in command of, that coming from a very bad back seat pilot.

sorry if it has already been mentioned but perhaps take people through a typical pre-flight routine, ie the paper work checks, what performance calculations/weather checks you got through, I know what long haul pilots do as they are usually only preparing for one flight, but I'd like to know how it occurs when preparing for a line of maybe 5-6 flights
