Tom, I’ve watched a lot of golf instructional videos from many instructors. And since I’ve come across your videos, I now have stopped searching for other instructors and no longer watch anyone else. Your instructions have really helped me improve my game. Was shooting in the upper 90s to low 100s. Now I’m in the 80s constantly. Lowest round is 82. I’m confident I’ll break 80 this year

I have spent too many countless hours watching many different instructors and tips but your approach to golf makes soooo much sense and makes it so easy. I became a member and have been working through golf swing simplified and it’s truly the most amazing stuff. My swing is already soooo much better and I’m hitting so much more consistent. The way you describe stuff makes it easy to understand and you can really see results. Thanks so much for what you do and being light hearted and not taking yourself too seriously while you do it. I know I'm a little late to the game but I stumbled upon your channel yesterday, watched 5 to 6 videos and I went straight to the range right after. For the first time in a long time I didn't come home dejected and ready to quit golf. I have struggled with the coming over the top motion in my swing, just a few of your videos and 1 range session has changed my outlook on the game. I really appreciate your simple approach to the game, thank you for your great content.

B Hogan would be proud of you. You teach golf simple and make it fun, you rascal. I love the driving range because I get to not only teach myself the way you teach, but I can pass enough to others. I spend hours on the range, and only a portion of the time on the golf course. And my weak spot is between the two ears. Once I learn to overcome my thinking process and actually having fun on the golf course… “ welcome to the wonderful world of golf”…😂

I have been playing 6 months now. I had an idea of a golf swing should look like, and how it should feel. 2 months ago I tried Sagutos technique but fwlt way too uncomfortable/foreign. Fact remained I still struggled with consistency and distance. A week ago I committed to his channel because I just cant afford lessons. Boy oh boy!!! Today I smashed shot after shots at the range. I gained 40 + yards with my 7 iron. Could never get it past 130yards. Today I consistently hit it 175yards. I am so happy and cant wait to take it to the course. That's awesome, William!! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating well with you - nice job incorporating it into your swing!! With regard to the driver, it’s essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfQpa2vfZilqaM. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX3NqIiVZqiWbdE If you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". A church friend just told me about you. I haven't played golf in years now but I think I might try again thanks to the first few minutes of this video. He said it changed his game too. I'm 68 so I'm afraid I might hurt something going out cold so making the swing a little simpler will go a long way for me. Thanks. I might actually go again. I loved my old golf outings even though they were mostly frustrating events most of the time.

Welcome back to this great game, and thanks to your friend for sharing my channel with you!! As for "hurting something", a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Perhaps you might consider the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. @@SagutoGolf Thanks for the reply Tom. It was the part about keeping your weight more on your front leg that caught my attention. I had always been taught (mainly by myself) that I had to shift my weight by loading up on my back (right) leg and transferring my weight to my front leg during the swing. This ends up in a hip sway the harder to try to do it and is probably why I never consistently had a divot in front of the ball. I'm looking forward to getting out there and trying this simpler method although it will probably need to wait until after the new year when the weather isn't so great down here in Louisiana.
@millstap Жыл бұрын
@@SagutoGolf and yes, I do have a right hip replacement and I blame it on my long term inefficient golf swing.
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
@millstap - Don't blame yourself! Even if you had subscribed to "conventional" instruction during your golf formative years, you still would have likely been taught to shift back and forth. How interesting and sad it is that with all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness!
@lesmoore76132 жыл бұрын
Tom... you mentioned re-routing nonsense ... are you simply taking the club back "in the slot" and leaving it there?? then returning the club to the ball on the same path while maintaining a slight stack n tilt posture.... thanks for some awesome content... I really enjoy your approach to the swing and the direction of simplifying and de-mystifying good ball striking.... you are awesome..

Here's an episode I released on this very topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnrbepKnosZ5laM I'm very glad to know that you are enjoying my instruction content and style. With regard to simplifying and demystifying, the way I see it we can put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! By the way, have you considered joining the online school and taking your game to the next level? Hi Tom. Great video as usual. I’ve taken your course. It was the best hundred dollars I’ve spent. Over the years I’ve taken many golf lessons and gone to two formal golf instruction schools. None of them helped me as much as your videos have. My scores have come down from so far over 100 that it wasn’t even worth keeping track, to the mid to low 90s with occasional games into the 80s. Putting is the last piece of the puzzle. My one suggestion related to the above video was that you didn’t mention keeping the right elbow tucked in. I suspect that the concept of hands in will result in the right elbow tucking properly. But for me that was the main key to improving my golf swing and I would hate for people to not have that idea. Thanks again, Golf is ❤a lot more fun for me now

Tom, I took a lesson with you about (2) years ago, and in concert with all your videos, I am having a blast playing golf now. Thanks for that! So I'm at a driving range in Dillsburg PA and a guy is struggling and I couldn't help myself. I started telling him some of your basics and to look up Tom Seguto on YT. His response was: Tom Seguto? I sed yeah, I took a lesson with him down in Myrtle Beach. He sez....I graduated with Tom Seguto!! Small world huh?

I sincerely appreciate the kind words, Stephen, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and style are resonating with you!! With regard to this being an "alternative approach", the way I see it we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! The swing system I teach is based on data from the game’s best golf ball strikers. Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 Thanks for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and keep it crispy!! Tom, would you say the set up is a braced tilt as one instructor I followed used to say. He also said to have the "tush" in the next country behind you so the arms could be tossed upwards. I feel bracing against the left side with the tush out naturally would produce the swing you demonstrate. Also,on a guitar note do you like Mark Knopfler's guitar playing? I do.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, I have taught the feel of the lead side being like a fixed door hinge, so I suppose that would be a similar concept. However, this is a one-plane swing so I do not advocate any independent lifting - or "tossing up" - of the arms. Instead, in this swing the lead arm should match the tilted shoulder plane at the top. Here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning about the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Yes - Knopfler is a fabulous guitarist! Tom, man... Today I felt true compression, after keeping arms straight as a rod, rotating the shoulders and getting some weight bias on the lead foot. For the 1st time, my 5-iron was flying 191yds every time, with 15deg launch, 121mph ball speed and 177 yd carry...not just once, but over and over again (a few loose ones crept in as I started getting overly comfortable....I concentrated back on the core of what you tell us.........and also focussed on the front of the ball, and I felt that little fella get squeezed into the face, heard that lovely sound and watched it streak its way down the range. 3-hybrid (M2) is getting me over 220yds, but my driver is falling apart (even with my lovey Graphite Design shafts)...anywhere between 149yds-242yds, but never know what i'm going to get. Set at 10.5deg but launching at anywhere from 6deg to 19deg, with the 242yds drive having a 16deg launch.........try to stay still but no idea what's going wrong. Driver is killing me.
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
Awesome! I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into practice!! As for the driver..... oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver - which is quite common early in the swing change process - it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. 2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) Beyond that, the online school will provide the tools you need to start mashing the driver. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews The school's intuitive curriculum greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, plus there’s so much additional guided instruction courses and content on the many other aspects of the game. @SagutoGolf damn, I was expecting no more than a 'thanks for the comment.check this driving video link,and remember to join the academy'. Thanks Tom. You just smashed it with this feedback... and you mentioned something that I know I'm guilty of.... From face on, I have a habit of my head and torso following the club down the fairway, so that I'm either head leaning towards the target or falling over. (I stopped moving on the backswing, but it creeps back into the downswing)... Will that suck the speed, power and distance?

When you say tilt 45 degrees, do you mean your trunk leaning left 45 degrees or your shoulder pointing at the ball? I tried both and it was still an improvement . Way to keep it simple for us old guys.

That's awesome, Tim!! I'm so glad to know that this lesson helped you to such an extent; nice job incorporating it into your swing. With regard to tilting - and various other components - I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. So yes - tilting your torso to the side while keeping your head in place or pointing your lead shoulder at the ball are two different feels for accomplishing the same action. Thanks for sharing your success, keep it crispy, and have fun out there!! Tom PS: By the way, have you considered joining the online school and taking your learning to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying and resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise as well as all my short game instruction, plus advanced level courses on shot shaping and power/distance. That's awesome, Matt! Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start in the school: 1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level! Hey, Tom. Really appreciate these videos. They have helped my game come along the past few months. This may be a shot in the dark but I had a question for you. I had been hitting KFC shots with my irons for the past few weeks but couldn’t hit my driver. The moment I started hitting my driver well I lost my irons. I think of them as the same swing. I know it’s hard to tell without looking at my swing but I didn’t know if anything would come to your mind for this problem. Thanks!
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
It really is the same swing for all clubs, Jacob; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfQpa2vfZilqaM. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX3NqIiVZqiWbdE My shot in the dark guess is that when the driver is working you may be swinging too flat with the irons, and when the irons are working you may be too steep with the driver. The length of the shaft dictates the swing plane. For example, your lead shoulder will be pointing downward at a steeper angle for a 9 iron than it will for a 3 wood. If you think about pointing your lead shoulder at the ball as suggested in this lesson - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ3CZamlpd1mrqM - then your plane will automatically adjust to the length of each club. By the way, have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Three great swing moves Tom. I would add a 4th. As you turn in the downswing shift your lead hip towards the target. When coordinated properly with the hip turn this will add power to your ball contact. Probably the hardest of the 4 moves to nail but when done properly, the results are positive. Cheers

Tom, you should do an analysis of Bobby Jones. If you look at those old instructional films of his swing, especially from behind, he definitely looks like you at the top. Majority of the weight on his left foot.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
This swing system is rooted in physics and geometry and based on data collected from the game's best ball strikers, Scott, so the concepts are certainly not new!! Sadly, "conventional" instruction over the past several decades seemed to disconnect from much of that..... Thanks for the Bobby Jones comparison; I appreciate and am flattered by that!! Tom
@nobrien12 жыл бұрын
Very clear and straightforward explanation! Nonetheless, where I get lost a bit is that is seems like you roll your wrists in the backswing and I have been told not to? Please clarify.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
There are no active rolling or handsy manipulations taking place at any point during this swing, Neil. The swing is a tilted circle, the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. Here are some lessons related to this: - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5jdlKyof8SseNk - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jamndWlpptqsoZo - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r525iIabo7mnhdk We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to harness the power of swinging on a circle through a seemingly effortless force known as angular momentum.
