The best training style, methods and accurate information anywhere. I am 72 years old and have never actually played a round of golf. A bunch of duffers got me so confused I put the gear away for two years. I’m baaaaack and completely focused on working through my whole bag using Toms methods. Joining right after I finish typing. Then off to KFC for a 3 piece Krispy meal. Thanks Tom!

Not gonna lie. I have been training my swing for 8 months using KZbin and feedback from scratch golfers. I had about 5 guys on KZbin that I trusted enough to listen to and try to learn from. Since finding Saguto golf last week, he is the only one I’ll listen to going forward! Makes it so simple! Soon as I go back to one of my old instructors, I’m back to over thinking. Thanks Tom!

Just blown away honestly. Went to the range yesterday using Tom’s tips and it was the best range session in a while! Only problem was I hit maybe 4-5 balls a little fat out of the bucket. So I get on KZbin this morning and this video teaching you how not to hit it fat or thin is staring me in the face. Ready for round 2 now!

I saw one of your videos on “KZbin shorts,” that was less than two minutes long. It changed my game. I am 65 and a 7.1 index, but only because my short game is really good. I have been hitting/ball striking terrible for the past few years. Your short video showing how bringing back the club on the reverse C, and return it along the same arc reminded me of my first golf lesson ever. As I lose flexibility being older even though I’m in good shape at 6’ 0” 188 lbs, I just don’t have the flexibility I used to and realized I had been picking my club up and not making a shoulder turn. Your short lesson changed everything for me and I went out and shot 76 with my son. I’m now watching all your videos and sending them to my friends. I’m in San Diego but I saw you had a 717 area code and I am originally from Pennsylvania so if you’re from Pennsylvania that’s terrific because that’s where we originally are from. I can’t imagine why I’ve never discovered you before but you’re terrific and I appreciate your videos so very much. Thank you.

That's awesome!! I'm very glad to know that lesson resonated so well with you - great job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! A significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing and experience great ball striking. I'm in South Carolina now, but I did grow up in South Central PA. Thanks so much for your support and for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!! HOLY SH!T HOLY SH!T HOLY SH!T. Getting that far left always scared me but it was shocking how good it got me to rotate and activate my ground forces. No sliding, no jumping, none of that. I set my weight on my left side 60 - 30 and took a number of small swings to feel the change and get used to it and then......SNAP, I got the feeling, for another 35 minutes and found my low point. Flushed 10-12 in a row and began to trust where I was going to bottom out. Ramped up the speed and amazed myself with the mash I was feeling. Saw consistent distance and dined on KFC impact until I stopped. dude. the smile on my face right now is pure amazement. the last 20 years have been a huge ?????????. That has ended as of today. @3putt5482 жыл бұрын
I have to hand it to you Tom. This video with Jess was like hitting the lottery for me. Maybe once in 30-40 swings with an iron, I would get that sweet buttery feel of a dead solid perfect, iron shot you talked about. I did exactly as you guys instructed. I took short swings with straight arms and 55-60 percent of my weight on my lead leg. I did this for about 15 minutes without hitting any balls. My divot was always in front of my alignment rod. Long story short, my first 8 shots with a half swing were spot on in the center of the club face. I had a little fade but oh how I loved that buttery feel and solid click of ball being hit perfectly. Tried a few 3/4 swings and they were good also. I have a few timing issues to start drawing the ball again but don’t anticipate that will be hard. Many thanks for the best day I’ve had on the range in a long time. Taking it to the course tomorrow!

I'm glad to know that you are seeing improvement, Tom! It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. There's plenty of detailed content in the online school specific to ball flight fixes and shot shaping. Keep up the great work, and hopefully you'll be enjoying a steady diet of push-draws this upcoming season!! TS

@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Vince, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! Yes - the weight-forward component also applies to the driver and woods. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWHbpJaDrrNmrJo Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag. I have been lurking these Saguto Golf videos for a few weeks now. I'm newly returned to golf after a 20 year hiatus and I have never been a good golfer. I have never understood the synchronization of the lower and upper body before seeing these videos. I used the swing down with my arms, cutting across the ball. The result was horrible, inconsistent contact and a weak shot with zero distance. I've tried Tom's suggestions lately and have seen a dramatic improvement in ball striking, consistency, and length. It hasn't translated to better scores yet, mainly because my short game has let me down. I know I'm on the right track with Tom's concepts...and with a little focused practice, I'll be breaking 100 in no time. Thank you Mr. Saguto!

Great content guys, eliminating weight shift is something I've been thinking about for a long time and I wouldn't be surprised if modern golf instruction starts going in that direction. Another big advantage is that it's a lot easier to clean up the swing and filter unwanted movements that go along with the shift and are detrimental to the strike!

I even did a few full swings and my goodness I think my 7 iron is going 200 yards when before it was 160-170. This is unreal how easy a golf swing actually is. You are definitely not alone with getting stuck on your trail side, Thomas. Sadly, many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings of "conventional" instruction - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness. You will likely be amazed at how a centered swing will really crisp up your ball striking. Guys, I’ve been working on the techniques from this video. I have one of those accu-shot mats with the grain that shows the spot the club struck and displays in the grain. I went to the range this morning, its a beautiful day in NY and I’m happy to report after about 20 or so half shots like Jess displays in the video, i began to lengthen the backswing. I kept 60-70% of the weight on the left foot, concentrated on left shoulder down and staying down with the chest and I had a fantastic ball striking day. Most of the rest of the strikes here high, straight and far. Just amazing.

I appreciate that, Marty, and I'm happy to know that you'll be enrolling in the school! Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start on your journey to the Land of Ball Striking Bliss: 1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level! Tom

Keep your arms straight and keep your weight on your lead leg. It's so simple but I've never seen this advice until this week (watched a similar video with Danny Maude to). I went to my course practice area today and hit 25 pitching wedge shots and 25 8 iron shots and it was a revelation. Gone is the feeling of trying to kill the ball with all of my strength and now it feels so smooth. There were no more fades or slices (I did have four shanks though) and now it's perfectly straight or small draws. Plus perfect divots after the ball! I can't wait to get back to the range!

Tom, I was at the Shriners this past weekend. I have a few pictures of the guys hitting driver from behind. You would not believe how tilted forward and down they were at impact. I can send you a couple if you want. You mentioned buttons down.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Feel free to send them to info@saguto.golf, Derrick. This swing is definitely not just for amateurs!! As I routinely tell folks, watch any Tour event on TV (or in person) and you'll see a significant percentage of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have their lead arms at or barely above their tilted shoulder planes at the top. And if we were to ask how many PGA Tour major championship winners TILTED, TURNED, and EXTENDED in the golf swing, the answer would be all of them. Stack and Tilt is a golf swing system based on data from the game’s best golf ball strikers. For this reason someone can be embracing key Stack and Tilt elements without being aware of it (or perhaps not wishing to invoke public ridicule for mentioning those "taboo" words... 😎). This is because there are basic requirements that must be met to hit a golf ball consistently on the center of the clubface. There are also components necessary to add power to the golf swing without sacrificing accuracy. The S&T guys determined, based on research conducted on the best golfers of all time along with their in-depth study of The Golfing Machine, that they all had 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistently crispy contact) 2. Have enough power to play the golf course well (distance) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A player MUST own these three non-negotiables in order to truly be good at golf, and Stack and Tilt provides a road map for executing them incredibly well in a low-maintenance and body-friendly manner. As far as Tour players using 100% of it, 99% of it, 97% of it, or 78% of it, it doesn't really matter because they're ALL doing it to some extent. Those 3 fundamentals never change! Thanks, Tom

Fantastic tip! Been having problems with chunking and thinning shots. I knew I was too much on the back foot, but couldn't move past it. The weight balance was something I didn't know. I will be doing this going forward.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to know that this lesson helped you, Brian! In the swing system I teach you start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. There's no "weight shift"; instead it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing. Here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning about the swing in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Have fun out there! That's awesome, Gary - thanks so much for sharing your ball striking improvement!! The need for a weight shift in the golf swing is one of the greatest fallacies ever taught, and it has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. Can you have some transfer of pressure into the trail side in the takeaway? Yes - as long as you keep your center intact and don't shift off the ball. But you best be back into your lead side by time you get to the transition. In the swing system I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight to the top (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing. By the way, have you given any thought yet to enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. i love stack ant tilt since your videos Tom one suggestion alot of golfers keep both feet straight at the ball. i notice the left foot is always facing out

Actually, Brian, having both feet flared out approximately 20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward are prescribed setup features of the Stack & Tilt swing system I teach. This orientation provides for an unrestricted 45 degrees of tilted hip turn, at which point we only need to add another 45 degrees of shoulder turn for a full 90 degrees. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing.
