I am an American man, 34, I am an industrial mechanic, I repair and maintain the equipment where I work. I am happily married to my wife of 8 year. I also drink tea, eat raspberries, order milkshakes and play videogames. What being a man means to me is not seeking approval from anyone other than loved ones and close friends. Fun story. Back in 2010, while in yhe Marine Corps and on deployment, we stopped in Australia for some leave. A large group of us decided to see what the land down under had to offer. We stopped in a bar for a few drinks, and everyone grabbed some beer. I hadn't had much alcohol at that point in time, and didn't like the taste of beer. So I bought a strawberry daiquiri. As you can imagine, the woman behind the counter gave me a strange look, and when I got the drink back to the table, I was ribbed pretty hard by the other guys. Once I started drinking it, I thought it was pretty good. So I offered a sip to one of my friends in the group. He was shocked at how much alcohol was sitting in the bottom. It made its way around the table, and everyone was surprised as well. You can imagine the woman's face when nine marines walked up to her counter and each bought a strawberry daiquiri.

And this is why, in most parts of the Manosphere, you're taught to focus on yourself instead of falling into the social media trap of both vying for the approval of others and letting other people try to TELL YOU what a "real man" is. It focuses mostly on self-improvement in a space that Men can actually occupy together, which is why outlets like Kotaku, Vox and others will try to slander it, because they can't have Men who aren't slaves to someone else's whims. Will some try to sell dating or hookup advice? Sure, but the MAJORITY of them are about self-improvement. Some of us even push MGTOW, which is ignoring the dating/marriage/hookup scene all together to FOCUS on that self-improvement. For the ones who date though, why are people so offended when Men have Standards, but don't bat an eyelash when a Woman talks about hers? Some of these outlets even try to sell that WOMEN should decide what "Real Man" is. "A Real Man would (x)!" I'm not accusing anywhere here of saying it, but the Manosphere gets a bad rap from people who have both never watched or listened to it and have only ever heard small clips with no context. No, we don't care what you do or say, but we do care about being SLANDERED by completely ignorant people.

The one who didn't get much freedom, when they see someone have more freedom than them that they didn't had, it really hurts them. The same goes for the parents who get hurt to see that their children have more freedom then they had, so they don't let them have it. The way previous generation always says the next generation is bad, it's the same thing. Sorry for bad English

I love how the go to “insult” for people who have a gripe against video games is “when’s the last time you’ve been laid” when it’s all but public knowledge at this point that many men, and women, who play video games are either in relationships or are fully capable of socializing outside of a video game. But SHHHH, don’t tell them that, they think they’re winning at life.

I've honestly never heard, in the Manosphere(in the main part of it), anyone saying, "Playing video games is less Manly." Just that you shouldn't let it consume your life as an addiction. These people(in the video) are the few who don't get much play because they sound ridiculous and insecure.
