Hi Dr. Jenny! I really look up to you because despite all of the stress of being a doctor, you are able to become a good mom and wife. I do hope I can be like you in the future with a loving family of my own. Kudos!

One of my major tips for med students is to look up the common management of common condition such as HF, CKD, Diabetes,HTN, etc. Deviance from standard management is a great question to ask the attending.

In nursing we get taught SBAR to guide us in giving report/talking to physicians. Situation (S) is pt age, gender, issue at hand. Background (B) is their PMH. Assessment (A) assessment data relevant to the situation ie VS, system assessments. Recommendations (R) is suggestions or questions for the physician r/t next steps

So as a family medicine doctor, will you work in a hospital or will you work in a private practice?
@drjennale6 жыл бұрын
That decision is up to you! You can work at either private practice, hospital, or both!

Hi! I’m studying so hard to learn medicine in a university in a foreign country. I’m pretty good at English but I’m not sure that I will be able to study medicine with my skills. Do you have any tips for me?

I think when people attempt to answer a question its cause they are nervous and do not want to look stupid. But i get what you mean. It is annoying for the teacher. But i do not see that as someone trying to be know it all. More nerves than anything. But good advice.
@drjennale6 жыл бұрын
Sorry that’s not what I meant. Trying to answer the question is good! But making up excuses of why you don’t know the answer is not so good lol
@yedlast50856 жыл бұрын
That makes a lot more sense.Sorry I interpreted it wrong. I just did not want people to be discouraged to attempt answering questions. Thank you

About to start 4th year rotations at new hospitals and learning new systems, how long does it take or how hard is it to adjust to other hospital systems?
@DrAdnan6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the tips! I’m starting my first rotations soon, and I’m trying to figure out how to not be completely useless. Would you recommend an iPad?
@drjennale6 жыл бұрын
I never issued mine. Only my phone to look up things. Plus I wouldn’t be able to pull up patient charts on my iPad so I didn’t find it as much of a benefit
@DrAdnan6 жыл бұрын
Jenny Le I see, thanks. I heard some residents or attendings also thought it looked less professional when med students were on their phones, which was another worry I had.
@drjennale6 жыл бұрын
As long as you verbalize “I’m looking up blah blah blah” it doesn’t make you look bad at all. Attendings are actually on their phone a lot looking up things too
@DrAdnan6 жыл бұрын
Jenny Le K cool, I can save some money then. I guess I’m just worrying too much haha.

Hi Jenny! Thanks for the great videos and inspiration! Any advice for how to prepare for each new rotation as an intern/resident? Also, what would you say was the hardest part about transitioning from medical school to intern year? And would you say that as an intern you are really making significant decisions or is it more gathering info, learning, and carrying out decisions of your upper level? Sorry for so many questions in one. I'm a very anxious rising intern Lol
@drjennale6 жыл бұрын
I usually try to review first aid before a rotation. But some you just can’t really prepare for because it encompasses all aspects of medicine. As a resident you are making decisions that affect patients and outcomes. That’s also probably the biggest change from being a med student and a resident.
