How to be a "volleyball player wannabe" Step 1- watch haikyuu Step 2- claim that you know everything you need to know just cause you watched the show Step 3- say that you started a week ago an now is a pro-player Step 4- leave volley ball because you can't spike like them characters or can't keep up with training or just don't actually like the sport Edit: this comment was written 1 year ago before I started playing volleyball professionally, and it was based on my personal experience. I had been playing for 3 years before this comment was written but it was just because I had to do some sport due to some personal health issues, but then I quit. I had a year gap (2018) were I was trying to decide what was best for me, I tried hockey and tennis and I didn't feel confident nor comfortable playing, so it quit both sports and used my free time to watch anime and tv. One day I came across haikyuu and I started watching it. I became more and more interested in volleyball as each episode passed, so I decided to start watching volleyball matches and I even went to the youth Olympics to watch every volleyball match, soon I had realized that volleyball was my passion and that I really missed playing, so in December 2018 i went to a club and did a "casting", if you wish to say, where they chose who could make it to the club's team. Luckily I got in and in February 2019 I started playing, and even made it to a league, my love for volleyball grew fonder and to this day it's still growing, and I think I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to play professionally. But as I said before, this comment was written before I started playing and it was a feeling I had of myself, I didn't mean to offend anyone. And a little Advise, never give your dreams up, maybe one day you will achieve it.

spike - In volleyball, spiking is the act of scoring a point by slamming the ball over the net into the opposing court effectively and aggressively. set - Strategic passes among players intent to direct the ball to a spike. tool - A "wipe" or hit that bounces off blockers' arms and out of bounds. kill - A hit immediately resulting in a point or out. float - A served ball with no spin. line - A straight sideline attack. pipe - A phrase used to signify that the back row hitter is prepared to hit from the behind the attack line. seam - The in-between spot of that defense is what's called the seam. ace - A botched serve after which the opponent is awarded a point. dig - Diving deep to pass a spiked or fast-moving ball close to the floor. free - A ball returned by a pass rather than a spike. The receiving team calls out, “free-ball” to denote all players to back up to serve receive positions, ready to pass and attack quickly. roof - A spike block that deflects the ball directly to the floor. pokey - This is a term used to describe when a player makes contact with the knuckles on their hands. This method of contact with the ball is used more often in beach volleyball. pepper - A drill in which two players pass, set, and volley the ball. touch - A serve which lands in the opponent's court without being touched, or is touched, but unable to be kept in play by one or more receiving team players. BLOCK -- Player(s) blocks the ball into the opponent's court leading to a point or side out. tip - Control of the ball with the fingers, also called "dink" or "dump". shank - An extremely botched pass. side out - The receiving team is given the serve because the serving team commits an error.
