It's crazy how much of a difference going for fast balls with just one hand makes over trying to get a set platform behind it. When I focus on it really hard when warming up I manage to do it consistently, but I struggle to maintain the arm separation ingame. Do you have any drills you use to burn this into the brain? Habits are tough to break, but it'd be such an improvement. I play on 6 in back-row, so I tend to have more time and it's mostly about positioning/reading well, but block touches are my bane and I think this would really help. Also, the range on that kid is phenomenal, wow. Bummer about the overpasses, but I'm gonna guess those are dud-picked and he's still the best passer in the squad.

Great points, best recommendation I can have to improve this skills is to work it into your pepper routine while warming up, our players incorporate it daily before warming up working on one hand defense and “scooping” to get in the frame of mind to use it when necessary in game.

Which is the best hand position while receiving the ball for libero??
@mitchsterkenburgАй бұрын
Hands directly out in front of you at a 30 degree angle, so slight outside your bodyline.

Any reason he doesn't use knee protectors ?
@mitchsterkenburg18 күн бұрын
Just a preference, some guys don't slide on their knees that much depending on their playing style. Darvin tends to dive more on his chest than slide with his legs.

Why isn't a "palm up" dig considered a lift?
@mitchsterkenburgАй бұрын
Typically with the speed of the game, a "scoop" dig no matter where its contacted is too fast to be considered a lift. In theory you could be called for a lift in the act of defense on a really slow ball if it gets caught in your platform. But based on the normal flow and pace of the game that's fairly uncommon.
