Many years ago I used to be a very bitter, argumentative, and insecure person. I would look for any opportunity to be upset or prove myself right to anyone and everyone, even friends and loved ones. It got so bad I started to push away everyone who cared about me. I saw this video in my recommended at the time. Figuring it would be some sort of guide on how to win arguments with people to fuel my arrogance, I clicked on it. After watching the whole thing I cried. I wanted nothing less then to apologize to my friends and people close to me, and strive to be nothing less than the most positive me I could be. It took me so long to realize just how miserable I was making myself by doing nothing but trying to ruin it for everyone else. This video isn't the only reason I'm as happy as I am now, but I really am thankful I watched it when I did. I don't know where I would be or what I'd be doing if I was still that same person, and I've never been happier than I am now.

@@iluvsomebananamilks3367 Have you ever made something an idol, used God’s name as a cuss word, disobey your parents, murder (God views hate as murder), lusting, stealing, lying, wanting something another has that isn’t rightfully yours? Doing so we violating the law, which is sin, and because of sin there is a punishment…If a serial killer like Ted Bundy tells a judge of all the good things he’s done for society do you think the judge would let the serial killer off free? The same is with us; we’ve committed such crimes against God that we are separated from God forever; we are punished by suffering Hell for eternity, a place with no hope for us. But God loves us so much and with all his heart that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to this cursed world to be crucified on the cross. (John 3:16-17) Now anyone who accepts Jesus Christ, God’s Son, as their Lord and Savior and believes he rose from the dead the third day will be saved from eternal damnation in Hell and live in Heaven in paradise with him forever. Many will choose to follow Satan, whether it be because they think they won’t succeed otherwise or won’t have any joy or friendships, but he will soon reveal himself as a murderer and a liar as he was since the beginning and he will curse all his followers as he cursed God and all of Satan’s followers will be cased into ever burning Hell. Don’t believe this lie I too believed in! Our God is a loving God full of compassion, yet he is a righteous God with righteous judgment. (Matthew 13:41-42)

reminds me of this Doctor Who quote: "I'm going to be dead in a few hours, so before I go, let's have this out, you and me, once and for all. Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because, because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun and God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do, because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind. It's just that... Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe there's no point in any of this at all, but it's the best I can do, so I'm going to do it. And I will stand here doing it till it kills me. You're going to die too, some day. How will that be? Have you thought about it? What would you die for? Who I am is where I stand. Where I stand, is where I fall. Stand with me. These people are terrified. Maybe we can help, a little. Why not, just at the end, just be kind?”

Take a look at Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Louis Gohmert, Matt Gaetz. The list goes on and on - and endless stream of sewer of humanity to fill up congress. There are some good people here and there but they are without real power. Despite all that I am hopeful for humanity.. Things are improving over time - not as fast as we would like and not as completely as we would like but its improving. We no longer have slaves. Medicine has improved, people live longer and fewer people go to bed hungry than in the past. So yeah, things are improving and eventually the Marjorie Taylor Greens and Ted Cruz of the world will be tossed in the garbage dump where they belong and the world will become a better place. @lolcano234 Those two movements state the truth that some of our societies are unbalanced: that they favor some groups over others, and lack the compassion necessary to even the gap. Weakness is staying silent and going with the flow. If your definition of weakness is to woe and lambast the lives of others while watching the evening news and being utterly incapable of level-headed discourse, favoring sensationalized expressions over gestures towards change, then we're on the same page; if your definition of weakness is fighting to bring kindness to all by standing up on behalf of someone who may not have the means to, then I'd like to urge you to reconsider your stance.

lolcano234 How on earth is the feminist movement and BLM movement scum? You say they are based on lies but there is irrefutable fact that women are oppressed by men world wide. You yourself may not contribute to it but that doesn’t negate the fact that men throughout history and even today are the main cause as to why the patriarchy doesn’t really benefit both groups. You say that men live a harder life and I agree. But think about this. Who are the world leaders, who starts wars, who are the people who decide the laws, who made the working field so toxic for men in the first place, why are men so suicidal. Certainly not women, men in the past have led the downfall of men today. Mental health of men are seriously looked over but honestly who’s fault is that. I don’t like the way I’m basing this argument but it’s a hard pill to swallow. Men set rules in place that lead to their downfall, throughout history they have never been held accountable. It’s understandable for women to be wary but of course to varying degrees. I don’t have to worry about being stoned for showing my face but I do have to be careful leaving the house or going out at night due to other men. We all have to face danger but it’s the fact that men can leave their house with relative safety and not have to be worried of other men. Do you think women want to be advocating and complaining, of course not.

Here's a motivational message: Saying "Fuck it" is honestly more motivating than "You can do this" or any other well thought out plan to get something done. Because Fuck it accepts the possibility of failure. Rather than trying to find the perfect way to not fall off that beam, to acheive the best outcome; when I am stuck against a motivational wall, "Fuck it" and just going for it has worked the best to push through. There is always more prep I could do, or I could get bogged down in avoiding negative outcomes. But at some point I just need to not care if I fail. Yeah it might suck. But it's better than doing nothing. And "fuck it" is like taking my emotions off the hook. It's giving me permission to fail. And thats when I find that the beam was in fact on the ground. So "Fuck it," just go for it.

Yeah this only works with those life choices for which the most negative outcome is fairly easily manageable. If the consequence of failure is you will lose your house, or maybe a small child will die, i guarantee its not wise to be telling yourself "fuck it" because thats precisely how people rush into things while disregarding important information or prep. So yeah, use it to get yourself out on the dance floor. To write that short story, or ask that cute guy/girl out etcetera. DONT use it if you work in something like nuclear power management or midwifery. Horses for courses, you know?

Doing so we violating the law, which is sin, and because of sin there is a punishment…If a serial killer like Ted Bundy tells a judge of all the good things he’s done for society do you think the judge would let the serial killer off free? The same is with us; we’ve committed such crimes against God that we are separated from God forever; we are punished by suffering Hell for eternity, a place with no hope for us. But God loves us so much and with all his heart that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to this cursed world to be crucified on the cross. Hey there, I too have found myself in this position 3 to 4 years back. But I came out with a simple mantra : first is the acceptance that even if someone becomes world's smartest person like cure every disease single handedly; given enough time people or whatever will forget about him and no one will remember. So nothing one does matter. But that doesn't mean one shouldn't do anything and calls it quit. We have blessed with life, a one of it's kind phenomenon and we do it only once (atleast in one's own self if you believe in religion). So instead of thinking what matters or what doesn't; simply do what you love to do, something you can spend literally hours doing and don't get tired. Something you are good at. And if you can, try to make world a better place by doing things you are good at. And if you can't, just enjoy life. Do your responsibilities and be happy. If living doesn't matter, so does quitting. So live in the present. Cheers.

Sounds like you’re better off not discussing why your parents are wrong about the shit they say. Maybe give them a disapproving nod and then do whatever it is you were doing. Technology knowledge is definitely a can of worms in many families and if your elders aren’t complete jackasses they’ll seek out your help in tackling the everyday obstacles instead of,stubbornly, misquoting jack from IT. I’m jack from IT and 9 out of 10 times I try to nail a point to the wall it’ll be misunderstood and misinterpreted because people weren’t hired on the grounds of excellent sysops practices or deep knowledge of databases. Understanding the dicothemy between knowledge areas is the key to better communication, but it’s so hard to boil down a 3 hour lecture to 1 minute of facts that will be remembered. I’ll leave you with a tip: If someone is making an argument for something, ask why they’re making that argument and how they’ve come to their conclusion. That way you’re able to form a response based on their point of view and shut their argument down.

Now I understand what exurb1a's videos are. They are motivational videos. Not the ones who shout at you for being "lazy", "not taking cold shower in the morning" and what not. His videos inspire gratitude for all human existence, my existence. It's something that is rarely shown in example despite being said over and over by those at the other end of screen, because what a person can be grateful differs for each one. What I needed was an object that I can be grateful all the time; and he guided me to a (cynical) love for mankind.

@@paulkothgasser6623 I 100% agree with you, but like in other such cases, one should separate the art from the artist. If the art, by itself, does not send a negative message, it can still be enjoyed. Kids should still read Harry Potter, older Woody Allen and Kevin Spacey movies should still be watched, HP Lovecraft stories are still masterful. As one reddit comment said (I’m paraphrasing tho): Once the art is out in the world, it does not belong to the artist anymore, but to the audience. Even after the artist is gone, the art is still carried on by people that are inspired by it, so on, so forth. To me, whether he is responsible of said acts or not doesn’t matter. @Bruno Pereira some good points, but not entirely true in my opinion. People from europe for example buy crops from Brazil because they are cheaper than the ones from europe. Both europe and the US could feed themselves with their own space, the problem is that 1. A lot of food is thrown away, in Germany around 60-70% of the harvest depending on crops, and 2. A lot of crops are used to feed animals with them, which is a really inefficient use of farming space. So no, people do not buy from Brazil because they would starve otherwise, but because it makes their meat cheaper, even though its terrible for the climate.

Cats are everything. And you can't beeing reasonable all the time with an ego. Evolution exposed us to a real dilemma here. Edit: Oh, and hi SuperComputer04. Seems we both like weird scifi movies and the 9000 series.

If anyone missed that frame, I'm here for you: Another method of diffusing tension in an argument about ideas is to locate a cat. If someone says, "No, you are stupid and I disagree," etc, you can say, "Yes but hey look, a cat." And they'll say, "Wow, that is a good cat." And you'll say, "Yes I know. Let's stop arguing and be friends." And it's possible they'll say, "Yes okay." It's also possible they don't like cats, but then that friendship was never going to last anyway.

It really makes you realize how often we insult each other, and throw around hateful words like we don’t want the same things as the people we to which we direct them. I think many of us do see this, but putting compassion into effect is so much easier said then done. I try not to be ignorant to my own lack of knowledge, but even so I very often find myself assuming and making false statements about things I don’t know. I’d like to think I’m at least a decent person, but even if that’s true, I fail at being as understanding as I’d like to be. Now how could I expect anyone to be better? To be among the best of the best, not only do you have to cope with your own issues, but everyone else’s as well. Life is difficult.
