There is a better way too add devices using Keyboard Maestro. You can copy the default preset of any device (located in a hidden folder in the user library) to the clipboard and paste it into bitwig. Much faster and more reliable because it’s not dependant on lag time from bitwig executing all these commands.

i have full faith in bitwig adding everything, they have done a phenomenal job over the decade, and they will continue to innovate for sure. it will never be perfect, a daw is just way too complex

macs come with automator which is a bit like this not sure if it would do some or any of this i used it years ago for creating photo files searching for a name and replacing with a description then it would add 001 then 002 etc to the names of any files in a folder and move to a folder it created with the name, all this with a single click. that was 15 years ago its still in there but might be fun to see if its doing anything like this probably not as sophisticated but who knows lol

For the kick+snare+hi hat clips you could save and insert a single bwscene file. Tracks would be inserted inside a group but there is a ungroup command for tracks

Bloody marvellous! In true sorcerer's apprentice stylee you have taught me something already! I've been using a clumsy method of jumping the mouse pointer around the screen, namely finding an image; I didn't realise that the Get button was available. This is going to inspire me to come up with a lot more macros! I really like the Bitwig Global thing, although I think mine is going to be activated by the Shift/Cmd/P key stroke since this is commonly used as a Command Palette shortcut by lots of coding tools.

One question I have: How do you change the panel at the top of the side browser to contain custom buttons/locations?

@@carlcaulkett3050You press the 4 squares on the far left of that browser to bring up the overall library and then you just drag whatever folder you want (and have added to the library) to the top of the browser

adding device can be even faster without the pop up browser by setting a clipboard target to a .bwpreset file of the device on your disk locally and then paste command

Alternatives to Windows are: - Pulover’s Macro Creator - tinytask - FastKeys These alternatives are much easier than this in the video Just record what you want and have a shortcut for it.

@@SjarMenace I choose the easiest way I will tell you how to do it I record the steps by tinytask Extracts the process as EXE I put all my EXEs in one folder I use Wise Hotkey software To create a shortcut for each process

Just found out an issue here: Sometimes when I'm focusing on, e.g. any given clip on track 1. When pressing T, Bitwig could still be focusing on Track 2 Header. This behaviour make the Adding EQ+ process somewhat unpredictable (I can't make it happen on clip / Track1 100% of the time.

Hello Sir..Your video is awesome.. I'm using a touch screen wih Mac and want to trigger scene via.KM. The problem is I have to be very accurate selecting the play button in scene. Can you do a tutorial on how to setup this automation KeyBoard Maestro so all I have to do is touch the scene slot and the play button will trigger the scene?

yes! there is no search/trigger by name functionality, so you'll have to keep track of your macros and binds, but it works very well and is stable

sorry for the huge delay in answering.. Are you talking about automating plugin parameters (for example)? automation in Reaper is much more advanced and functional than in Bitwig. I would call the key feature of Reaper is the ability to create Actions / Scripts - this is a kind of analogue of macros in Studio One / Cubase. that is, you have the ability to construct a certain algorithm of actions that will be sequentially launched when you press just one key. for example: - select all tracks named "XXX" - increase the volume on the selected tracks by 3 dB - add fabfilter pro q 3 to the selected tracks - combine all tracks into a group - deselect all tracks - ... etc. that is, you have the ability to automate routine processes that you do every day and that take up your time. for example, you can align vocals, remove "silence" and so on with the press of one key. just a few seconds, when in other DAWs it takes a lot of effort and energy. I am an experienced Reaper user since 2011, and have written 1000+ tracks for audiostocks (Audiojungle, etc) in it, and from my own experience I can tell you that Reaper is good for those who work on a "conveyor line" : ghost producers, musicians for audiostocks, voice acting, game / movie sound engineers / designers, etc. Since 2018, I discovered Bitwig - and it has a more creative environment, the ability to improvise, "pure creativity", creating music in Bitwig is like a game, where you constantly discover something for yourself. Bitwig has brought back the "child's mindset" in creating music. However, of course, each program has its own advantages and disadvantages.
