Solaire of Astora Well you have to learn humour aswell. Some do it early and bit by bit so it seems naturally. Others need to catch up and need an explanation. You can learn anything.
@reky9997 жыл бұрын
The ones you would call naturally funny, have been making people laugh for so long, that it seems though humor is natural to them. If you notice, babies start to learn things that make people around them laugh. You can even see them realizing this from the happy expressions they make. Successful comedians have said time and again in interviews at how they had performed really bad sets in comedy clubs during the start of their career. So it's fair to say that humor is learned and perfected by comedians who understand what will make people laugh by really paying great attention to their reactions towards jokes.

It might be something you're completely unaware of and once you fix it it makes a big improvement. Also, delivery _can_ be learnt. It's different with spontanious jokes, but if you happened to be tellong random jokes among your friends then you can definitely learn delivery.

If you want to take the teasing humour a bit further, you can break it into two basic categories, 1. Teasing that's funny because it's true 2. Teasing that's funny because it's not true The first category is the one where you do have to be very careful, and usually it's only going to work when your making fun of something really innocuous, that doesn't have any self-image invested in it for a given individual. The second one would usually be combined with exaggeration, for example, like calling someone retarded when they do something embarrassing, but very common, like stumbling, or spilling a glass of drink.

I usually like to combine certain types of humour that fit together well. For example, I love mixing exaggerations and misdirections into the stories I tell. It catches people off guard and is usually really absurd, so they start laughing. Even if it's just the "I'm laughing because I'm surprised and not because it was the best joke ever", usually when more than one person laughs, that surprised laughter turns into genuine one...since the others are laughing too and laughing is contagious (or so they say). I also like mixing teasing and sarcasm (or better, teasing someone sarcastically)...though from my experience, that is a really risky thing to do...especially if people don't get sarcasm and/or get easily offended. You REALLY have to know the target before making jokes like that. And what I have found to be very effective, is when you say absurd and riddiculous things with a completely straight face, as if you're dead serious about it. Not even a smile or anything. Those usually go well with roleplaying or misdirections. However, it is important to show that you're not actually serious, which can be difficult and depends on your body language. You don't want to come off as a creep, after all. Another thing that works quite well is if someone else says something and you just stare at them with a blank expression for a few moments, before countering with a joke on your own (be it a pun, a sarcastic remark etc.). That kind of pause is unusual for conversations, so people will be surprised and oftentimes, you will get their attention due to your lack of reaction. Again, this is kinda hard to pull off without looking like a socially awkward weirdo...but if you can pull it off effectively, you'll get a lot of laughs from people. And lastly...self-referential humour, jokes you make about yourself. Here, the important thing is to not actually mean what you say or else you sound depressed. It also shouldn't be anything too harsh, maybe joke about your weight or (lack of) skills. That's one thing I love doing and people usually react positively to it (For example, when people want to take a picture of me, I'll be like "I wouldn't, if I were you! I'm so fat, your camera lens will break if you do that!" while STILL getting ready to be photographed) To be fair, I'm no professional comedian, these are just things that I've noticed in people around me. If you want to try those out, do so with caution xDDD

I truly believe we need someone to write examples under different categories of conversation in the case of humor like you did with this video. We all get the damn principles and general idea it's the shit people say sometimes that makes us silence or have no idea what they said so we need someone to teach us examples and meanings of that so we know when to apply it. Most of my success with conversation comes in part of learning the principles but it's mainly knowing the details of certain things to say, knowing the meaning of it and when to apply that shit in real time that makes conversation flow like a bitch.

*Sarcasm, and randomness is my shit :P* *For me, the joke itself does not have to be funny, it's the delivery that gets me. If someone knows how to deliver their shit i will laugh hysterically. Also one thing is "relatable" humor, if people can relate to what you are saying, then they are more likely to laugh.*

i'm on a comedy sports team and have been voted "most funny" a few times now and i gotta say, you nailed these. it's hard to say exactly what makes someone funny, which is why PG comedians like the ones you mentioned are so admirable.
