For your information. Our brain works to help us survive not to make us happy. Happy is dopamine released in our brain at short intervals. Happiness is not a continuous state of mind. It’s an occasional experience.

Idk where you come from, but... happy is achievable through any mean, really. Whereas, it is just the influx of dopamine in your brain that gives you a sensation of "feeling good"/ at ease... or "back to homeostasis". But if you're to talk about happiness... it has Nothing to do with the concept of "happy". You're utmost happy when you understand what causes dissension and how to avoid it, but.. mostly, a method to maintain your joy/happy/satisfied state of mind acquired through.............. homeostasis. Small hits of dopamine dont do crap to allow you to obtain it. Writing this message I am happy because I've learned to enjoy sharing what I know (as an example... and to help you determine whom you're reading from/discern if the information is valid). So... how do we obtain happiness? Here's a trick from languages: In french, happiness translates to bonheur which has a root of "bon". Translating it back to english, you get "good". But then... goodness? Goodness is something that is fundamentally good. We're getting somewhere. As a whole, french people that don't leave in the metropolis have a Far better chance to have their happiness as they dont learn to believe in the advertisements and crap that made you speak about "time and energy" in the first place. Like I said, Everything can allow a person to be happy... literally... Everything. Optimizing the potential (managing time) and avoiding negative influences over your mood (energy sinks) will help you regulate yourself, but... learning about the world and what is Good from bad will ultimately allow you to distinguish what consolidates your temporary joy. Lets recap: you can't obtain true happiness from joys/state of being happy temporarily or reaching your satisfaction... So how do you get it? Determining what is good from bad is a matter rationality... science offers a decent methodology, but, ultimately... it's the people around you that benefit from the good you put out there that will teach you how to acquire it. I dont wanna give all the answers. It would be too easy :)
