Hey Rick, today I passed my driving exam and it was partially due to what I've learned from you and your channel. Particularly this video for situational awareness as this is something that most new drivers have problems with. There are so many things to think about while driving: traffic signs and traffic lights, pedestrians, position of other vehicles, where you're going, turn signals, shoulder checks, maintaining good distance and appropriate speed, potential hazards and blocked lanes up ahead and more. As a young driver I find all of this information overwhelming but I'm sure that with time and practice I will perfect my observation and judgement.

CONGRATULATIONS on passing your test today. That is fantastic news. You are correct: in the beginning there is a lot on which to concentrate. As you gain more experience, you'll get "calm awareness" of what's going on in. the driving environment. And once you learn the different driving environments, you'll be able to identify both intersections and the road users you'll meet there. Where did you go for your first solo drive? All the very best, Cheers Rick

@@smartdrivetest I passed my test in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. But I'll need to get my driver's license (which takes about a month) before I can drive on my own. Here in Bulgaria we also need to pass a first-aid training before obtaining a license but I already completed it, so now it's just paperwork.

I'm incredibly grateful for your informative videos, which covered everything from basic parking to more intricate topics, offering clarity and helping me conquer my driving anxiety. I intend to keep returning to your videos to strengthen my skills as I gain more experience behind the wheel. Your emphasis on "calm awareness" was especially beneficial during my test. Thank you sincerely for your support and guidance!🤗

At 28:20 talking about the learner driver waiting until before their test before they practice… in NSW (Australia) a learner has to clock up 100 hours of practice in a log book. The date, time, licence plate, odometer start and end have to be included, and the supervisor (parent, instructor etc) has to sign off with their license number. If the details are fudged, the supervisor has then lied on a legal document with the ramifications that brings. It means that learners have to space out their practice over a 100 hour period… oh and that has to include a variety of environments (night time, rain, sunshine, snow/ice if applicable, sealed and unsealed roads, highways, interstates and towns/cities where available to the situation). It makes a big difference. The older the learner is (over 25), the less time they have to log so the onus is on younger drivers to practice longer.

question ~ going for my G this week and bit confused... So in Simcoe Ontario you have a 4 lane road, 2 in each direction. When driving on it do you move to the outside so people can enter or is it a passing lane that i shouldn't go in? i know its a big hit on points so super nervous haha
