Vintage Beauty Morning Routine
Key Moments:
00:00 - Daily Skincare and Makeup Routine
00:31 - Cleansing Cream
01:06 - Stimulant Cream
01:49 - Complexion Face Mask
02:14 - Morning Bath
02:46 - Glow Base Foundation
03:10 - Cream Rouge
03:34 - Face Powder
03:49 - Apply Lipstick
Miss Bennett shares with us her basic daily skincare and makeup ritual. Conveniently she appears to have woken up with lip rouge already applied!
A Hollywood actress - at least in those days was expected to look attractive, no matter when she was in public. Knowing how to be beautiful - every day, was of tantamount importance.
Many Hollywood studios had attending makeup artists, some as famous as Max Factor. The Westmore Brothers were a family business devoted to the art of Hollywood makeup .A lot of effort was put in to teaching the studio's starlets how to look beautiful. From the moment they stepped out of their front door.
Cinecolor short,with sound by Western Electric Mirrophonic.
AI picture and audio restoration by Glamourdaze using AI neural networks.
The Film Restoration Process
I took early fragments of silent 16fps footage and restored it to life by a combination of manual frame by frame color grading as well as some use of deep exemplar-based video colorization techniques. The footage was upscaled and the frames interpolated to a higher frame rate ( in this case 60 frames per second.) Finally the soundtrack audio was separated , cleaned and a new backing track added.
Produced by Howard C. Brown and Curtis F. Nagel, for the Educational Films Corporation of America. Location - Hal Roach Studios, best known for the works of Laurel & Hardy.
Originally uploaded to our channel in 2010 under the title "Vintage 1930's Makeup & Skincare Guide.

Thank you so much! Constance Bennett has been a favourite actress of mine for years thanks to Topper and Sin Takes a Holiday. @@coffee-xg6my I was going to say the same: great job with the video restoration, but not the best choice of music. Either a 1930s-appropriate soundtrack or nothing would have been better. I understand the music is meant to create a relaxing morning mood, but for anyone who knows this era, it's very jarring paired with this video! 🤯I do, however, appreciate all the effort that went into this.

Modern primer is usually made from silicone-based polymers so it's unlikely they had this back in the 1930s. Given the name, it's likely this "Glow Base" was just rebranded Vaseline...they were huge fans of petroleum jelly back then and marketed it for everything from automotive lube to laxatives.

@michellejacobsen331
@michellejacobsen331 Жыл бұрын
I think of this in context of those 1940s-50s videos of the teenage girls being taught about beauty at school: it was less about having explicitly good looks and more about having self-respect & the attendant effort of good grooming. It's like if you respect and take care of yourself the rest will fall into place naturally. I wish more people, women AND men, took this message to heart. It's kind of depressing to go out and see so many people who clearly do not give a fig about their appearance.
@nonenone6357
@nonenone6357 Жыл бұрын
@@michellejacobsen331 I agree with you but.. I think it has only been recently that people think looking good in the sense of esthetics is a shallow thing. Never in the human history people thought that. Thats why people dressed nice going to church, or thats why churches was beautiful. Its very hard to separate the spiritual from esthetics. I see many people that fight to live in very beautiful houses but think its shallow to wear beautiful clothes.

Who wakes up looking like that? Not even in my teens or 20’s did I wake up like that. Every stitch of makeup was removed and face cleaned before going to bed. Still is today and I have a very nice complexion
