This is making a whole lot more sense to me now. I was following bad advice and this made way more sense. I am going to focus on engagement of my potential audience now and take my time instead of trying to charge head on. I'm still having a very hard time understanding twitter compared to Instagram and TikTok where I started getting engagement fairly quickly.

Excellent video. My Twitter account had over a thousand followers, but my tweets were getting next to no engagement. This is because a lot of followers had followed me years ago, and I had evolved far away from the where I was then. I've taken the radical, and possibly foolish step of removing basically all followers and completely re-branding the account. I'm hoping that by following some of the advice you've given, and by being more consistent - I'll see a much better engagement and start building an actual community.
