Rool is one of those noob stomping characters that after you learn the matchup, becomes really easy because all these players are used to being carried by the cheese so they have no idea what to do when you beat their flow chart. but then you run into an actualy good one and realize you have no actual matchup practice because no one is actually playing the character optimally

Thanks for this. As a K. Rool player I feel like people simultaneously overestimate and underestimate the character. He's a heavy hitter with plenty of exploitable weaknesses. I also think he has a long recovery, not a good one. There's a difference. Once he's started it, he's almost completely at the mercy of the other player as he's locked into a slow move that's completely vulnerable from the side. I think the only reason that people are having trouble with it is because they're not used to going out and edgeguarding for any reason other than spiking for style points.

Mark H the only only thing they should nerf (imo) is mii swordfighter's tornado move, to link up B. It's a kill confirm that kills at 60

Mark H honestly, if they hit the tornado, it takes no skill to follow up with the Up B due to the amount of hitstun and launch distance that the tornado gives. And the only thing you can try to DI is the hero spin (when you're getting hit by it) but i'm pretty sure it's impossible to DI out of if if you're caught in the move. But trying to DI during the hitstun of the tornado won't affect the outcome of anything, because the hitstun of tornado is SO FUCKING LONG

Just a quick DK tip. The cargo transition itself has 15f intangibility during the animation where he's putting you over his shoulder. So just pummel once or twice while the crown comes closer, then hit forward to get an uninterrupted cargo transition.

It would be nice to learn how to deal with inkling. Their dash dancing can be confusing due to the animation. Their roller is very good and a pain for someone who can't deal with it much and their aerials are very good. The jab is risky to get hit by since the damage multiplier goes up slightly for Inklings to kill early

if you figure out when your opponent (inkling) might try to roller, just stand in place and shield, what i see most people do is try to roll back and then still get rollered over, but if you shield the roller they will get stuck in your shield and actually have a ton of punishable lag, and of course if you get rollered try to mash afap

Their projectiles have long ass animations. His main tool for neutral is the cross, if you jump over it you have a chance to get in. If you get in and are decent enough you can wreck them. You can also edgeguard them by going after their tether recovery before they reel themselves to grab the ledge. They are zoners with bad recovery. I get they are good characters and you might find their zoning oppressive at first, but they can be dealt with. Also, they are at an extreme disadvantage when you are below them, more so than other characters, so capitalize on that too since the only choices they have are air dodges, directional air dodges and dair, all of which are bad compared to what options the one with the lower ground has.

I really appreciate how this video went over it in a general sense. I was afraid it was going to be "Just play Pikachu and have a tiny hitbox and be super fast", but you actually went over it with a character like DK who has a huge hitbox and needs a bit more finagling to get in which again translates well into most other characters. I play quite a bit of Ridley and good K Rool players are really intimidating. Though, with the amount of lag on a lot of his moves it makes him prime bait for the Down-B skewer, arguably the most satisfying move in the game to land.

As a k rool player and one who goes against him often I have to ask this one thing which I don't know of: Can you start button mashing out of the bury before you get burried? Like as in: does your early or buffer button mashing go towards you breaking out of bury stun? Krool is good for newbies and a pain in the ass to enemies who are against the mains. I do agree with the community that his kit is too strong and imo most of his moves shoudn't have super armour. In ultimate the only characters I think that need nerfs are Krool, Ike needs some unsafe frames like that dude still has strong attacks and good melee range and the mains will just control you on where you go on the stage in both attacks and manipulating you. I do think more characters need at least one more easier way to kill people at the 90%s when I play Arena mode I always pick random fighters I never stick to my mains and I've noticed that alot of characters don't have that many good mid or early kill potential unless you can pull off a meteor smash. For some characters there are clever ways you can do it but I wont go into that plus this post is long enough as it is.

I’ve been beating the CRAP out of him Online as Wolf. I’ve been landing lots of Down Smashes, Down throws, nairs, projectiles and often times he goes high in the air above me with his up special and I punish with Up Smash. All you have to do is not be scared of him. Also just make sure when you reflect his crown just make sure his crown hits him before he can run towards you.

Here’s what I do as K rool against any character that likes to get close or doesn’t reflect a lot: throw crown, wait a tiny bit, then shoot blunderbus in the direction of enemy, keep holding B and you should get sucked up, then shoot INTO the blunderbuss shot or crown, which should be near enough to shoot them into. CPUs can’t handle it and some players can’t either

1-Pay attention to where she does her down-b 2-Don’t get stuck in her side-b (use your shield or jump above her, etc). 3-Try to hit her when she is doing her recovery/up-b. There’s a chance that she won’t be able to recover at all.

This is a suggestion for later: How to deal with Wolf. It is kinda personal, since in my early days of Brawl it was the main of a friend of mine and I don‘t remember beating him at it once. Not then, not now. I have come to the conclusion that I just can‘t beat Wolf at all, no matter who‘s behind the controller. The reason I believe you should save him for later is that I get the feeling, people are going to start playing him more and you probably will get much better match-up experience. (Although you did play Brawl competitively, so maybe you do know more than one would expect and this is just the opinion of a friendly casual) Aaaaanyways, keep up the goodstuff and have a nice day! K. Rool forces you to respect his attacks, but ironically enough doing so leads to his biggest weakness, which is his huge recovery after most of his attacks. Play patiently and bait him out, and you'll find openings for days.
