Also...the basic rule is that mid beat lows, so IF...you you are outside of the 2p range, you don't necessarily need to get in the range of the 2p, block it and only then punish. Do your character's elbow class move (it's necessarily a mid, it must be 6p or something) and it will beat the low. Tricky_Eileen did a video on this.

You can try to sidestep and cancel the sidestep into a fuzzy. On some Disadvantages it will avoid fast mids while also avoiding slow circular attacks or lows. Less effective than fuzzy but still better than doing nothing. Also, once you get to use these defensive tricks the whole "delayed attacks/throws" layer starts kicking in. If someone abuses fuzzyguard you can Just delay the throw, use a low Attack, and if you have them use a slow guardcrash or even a low throw. Fuzzy saves you only from the basic stuff, if they take more risks they can beat It easily

The funny thing is, a lot of people are afraid to get into Virtua Fighter because they think it's the hardest fighting game of all time or because they've seen the highest of level of competitive play and think everyone is supposed to play that way instantly, but the reality is, Virtua Fighter is not a complicated game, it's a simple game with a lot of depth, which in my opinion should make it easier for people to get into, not to mention, I don't think it's too difficult to master, sure it's not the easiest fighting game and some characters are a bit complicated as you progress, but there are a lot of beginner friendly characters you can choose from like Sarah, Jacky, Lion, Jeffry and even the more complicated characters like Akira or Kage can be very effective in beginner level play, on top of that, in 5 and especially Final/Ultimate Showdown it's a lot easier to combo than in previous VF games, there are quite a few easy options to launch or stun the opponent for a combo for all the characters, you just have to find the most damaging one.

I'm certainly understanding it more than a game like Tekken or SC, so thankful for the lack of comeback mechanics in VF lol.
@LordRaptor3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatPunkYT I've been playing all three ever since I was a kid and I can tell you, not just from my own personal experience but also from the experience of friends and family who I played these games with that Virtua Fighter is generally easier to get into than Tekken, it has less mechanics, less characters, less buttons to worry about and the movement is WAY easier than Tekken, I'd say Soul Calibur is somewhere in-between, it's certainly not as difficult as Tekken, but it's a bit more complicated to learn than Virtua Fighter, the most telling thing in my opinion, is that in Tekken almost nobody I know could even touch me, in Soul Calibur it was a bit less lopsided and in Virtua Fighter some people actually stood a chance against me even though I have so much more experience than them.

@CrowsofAcheron3 жыл бұрын
That's because the string you are using has high moves. You can end your strings prematurely by pressing guard, then go for fast mids to blow them up.
@ThatPunkYT3 жыл бұрын
@@CrowsofAcheron hey thanks for the reply! So lemme ask this, if my string is PKP, let's say high-mid-high, if the mid hits it's theoretical they can duck my high? Great tip on the guard cancelling though, I'm gonna have to try to implement that!
@CrowsofAcheron3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatPunkYT I don't know the specific string you are talking about, because it's character-dependent. Just keep in mind that standing jab isn't supposed to give a very high reward. Not every string combos, and unless you are juggling them or have them against the wall, they will have gaps where your opponent can duck or evade. Also, keep in mind that VF is a very offense-focused game. You don't want to be blocking too much, you always want to look for a way to take your turn back, and anticipate the same in your opponents.

That's why ill never understand someone losing to an abare player and complaining about them and them playing that way. If they are playing abare then block then you'll have the advantage, and punish them with a floater or crushing move. It'll counter hit them and you can get a combo on them. The key to VF is mixing up abare with playing moral and seeing what works and what doesn't. Anything goes in VF imo. Nothing is cheap and nothing is off limits since there is an answer to every single move in the game. If you're losing its entirely your fault for getting hit by whatever it was. Online tactics can he cheap though but its still not impossible to beat if its a decent connection.

Now that begs the question how you beat fuzzy guard?
@chrislaalo39653 жыл бұрын
Low attack, delayed input throw, or low throw. I once heard Virtua Fighter referred to as "The battle of the second best moves", because everyone gets trained in how to deal with the optimal attacks that something suboptimal has a tempo that lands. Following the math, if they fuzzy guard expecting you to either throw at 10f or hit with a mid at 14f but you instead delay throw 5f to connect with their guard at 15f then you will get them after their fuzzy is finished. They could still tech the throw, though. I'm sure there are other ways, too.
