Two things to correct 1. Kato wasn't trying to choke the yakuza guy. He was successfully choking the guy 2. Creepy hair kid(forgot his name) trapped the onion giant which teleported him to, I think, a moon prison. I don't remember if they actually say where it sends them

Honestly I never understood the net/teleport gun. Why would Gantz design a weapon to safely teleport aliens away from earth when the whole point was to kill aliens and stave off invasion? It’d make more sense to just be another way to kill the aliens

It transports half of the alien, if it transports the whole thing, the idea of safe transporting might be possible but it wasn't.

More than that, I'm not an expert on trains at all but the train should not have been traveling so fast pulling into a station. They passed at least 5 platforms and there were more further down so they ran almost to the edge of the tunnel. The driver also should have seen them in thst amount of time as they were well lit due to the station lights. Next up the tracks some places have a safety on the tracks so if someone falls it alerts the conductor but even more importantly the bum was making contact with both tracks which are electrically charged and would have killed him nearly instantaneously. The first scene is alot of contrivances but as they say it's better for a contrivance to get the characters into trouble than out.

2:13 - may be Moscow metro is different, but in all guides it is exactly what is reccomended - do not touch the rails and lay down in the deeper part between them. Under any circuimstances do not try to outrun the train.

Can I just say you made some mistakes with your train justification. The train in the story is a metro train travelling which are normally built with a top speed of 60mph and the speed when nearing a platform is significantly lower as they have notoriously high breaking distances. They are not in rubber tyres but steel wheels. They should have gone to the Crawlspace available underneath the platform. It was created for this scenario

All that may be true but if I remember the scene right just as they were near the end of platform and thought to be safe announcement came through that the train wont stop at that station and is just passing through . I think even when passing through a station they slow down a bit though . Or I mixed it up with the ending scene where Kei after being chased by other people in same situation as him because Gantz declared him an alien for getting close to 100 points/freedom also ends up running away from a train.

This is one of those shows that I just.. couldn't get behind. All of the characters were either unlikeable or while nice often did dumb things that defy common instinct. Like begging for fights and asking for bad reputations practically. It was just so weird :/ Still enjoyed seeing your coverage on it regardless! Can't wait for next week!

Gantz: O was so much better in my opinion. The weakest part of Gantz was its characters so to have them cut down to the bare essentials letting it just serve as an overblown action romp was the best thing they could do.

Depends on if you read the manga (which explains the backgrounds) or only this fast and content free Anime Adaptaion (the only good parts were to hear how the guns sound and the music) while charactere development from the manga was missing completely (the anime even only made it to mission 3, where the manga is really starting)

And I am totally ok taking that approach, if anything it makes you connect more. But the problem with Gantz wasn't that they had human foibles that could make them unlikable, it was that they were BORING.

I don't think they can interact with everyday objects. Instead, I think it's the opposite way around. For example, they couldn't open the door but the car managed to hit them. So I don't think that stealing the car would have been a viable option

btw to tell you something about trains, for the opening sequence when the 2 guys run from the train..... they can actually just sit down in-between the train rails , there's a large open space there big enough to specifically avoid an scenario where a drunk guy falls in there, and gets run over by a train. The saddest thing of all is that the manga actually had a decent and satisfying conclusion to the whole thing. With the anime at the end, it just had people feeling like that Krusty the Clown meme, going "what the hell was that?!"

Forget it. In todays times there is an almost 0% chance for a Gantz remake. The Manga gets way more brutal and disgusting, which is good. Spoilers: There is Rape, I think even gangrape...not sure, Alienrape, child abuse and death, mass shooting, mass murder in a school, blackfacing, brutal bullying, sexism and probably many more things that you could never make into an Animated Series. Gantz is such a good Manga that it should stay this way. For todays standards it's way to "Hardcore" and disturbing to be shown and would just summon one shitstorm after the other.
