I would personally drive to the coast, steal a boat, and live on the ocean. It doesn't appear that the clone would be able to deal with the open seas (given how easily they were drowned). You can also fish for your food and if you manage to snag a water purifier, you can change the salt water into normal water. If not, you could just set up some barrels for rain water. On top of this, the bugs show up on spores, but the higher winds on the open sea will keep you safer. To end my point, its easy to get away from other boats in your own and you can easily spot if anyone is getting near. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The idea of body snatchers is honestly one of the most scary survival concepts out there. The fact that you wouldn't know how bad the situation is until it's usually to late is terrifying. The only comfort there is is that it doesn't get to tech people and military first. Guns, internet, and power are the only things that can keep humans alive from snatchers.

The percentage of people that have plastic surgery that would be noticeable is very small. Also even if you did run into a person that lost their plastic surgery you wouldn't put the idea of an alien invasion together fast enough. Its not just about convincing yourself. Its about convincing a large scale military organization in a matter of hours. (You'd have to notice the plastic surgery and conclude as well as convince sceptics that the entire world was under invasion within a matter of only a handful of hours to have even the smallest of chances of winning the war). The entire situation is just simply an extinction level event. It happens too fast and its happening everywhere at once. The only survivors would be the government personal that serve as workers for the long term bunkers. Places like Norad or nuclear subs would be the bits of humanity. Their final message from the outside world would be orders to never make contact with an outside source ever again. Humanity would die when either Norad or a place very similar ran out of their last MRE.

My biggest issue with this is how the clone would be allowed to just walk through the streets completely naked without anyone noticing. Like assuming they were in a heavily populated city with no coverage from the forest, I don't see how they could reliably get to their targets without being stopped by police or strangers.

Actually Nerd missed two important things with this video on how to beat the body snatchers in Assimilate. 1. When they clone you, any scars or damage you had such as lost limbs are ignored meaning it's only a straight genetic clone not a true copy. Anyone missing a finger something or who has noticeable scars might just be safe. 2. Cannibalism is in this case completely right out, when the mother was life draining the real mother, those tiny black particles were streaming down her arms into the victim. This means we have no idea what precisely the clones are made of and cannibalizing them may actually be worse than starving a bit longer until you find safe food or foraging int he wilderness. We also don't know if these body snatchers go after animals, if not, then hunting is the game. Clones are just target practice.

Based off my logic, the best way to survive this is to get to a remote location and live out your life there. Gather any surviving members of the human race and have them move to a secondary location before being transported to your location. I don't think rabies tests would bring up alien dna, they are fairly specific tests that look for the virus, the antibodies and the antigen. Secure a easily defendable location thats relatively isolated. Learn to grow food and hunt for food whenever possible even a clone likely has dormmate phases. The clones aren't all that bright so, if getting there weren't a problem, I'd say finding an island is your best bet. find a map, then find an island as far as possible from the shore (But still reasonably close enough to not be ridiculously far.) And then when there you could just chill. Getting survivors there would be a major risk though. I am 99% positive being on an island makes you safe from any clones as well. I doubt they'd really comprehend how water travel works. Especially the crazy assimilation ones that would try to get to you by running through the water. which would just result in, ya know, drowning. When it comes to an actual community, assuming you had any form of service like the survivors have at the end of this movie, you could post your coordinates online. It seems highly probable that these aliens have 0 idea WTF the internet is and their ability to understand our technology seems EXTREMELY limited. I also highly doubt they'd go to the effort of tracking down a small community on a desolate island, because whatever their goal is, becoming replicas of us just seems like a stepping stone in that goal. And I doubt a few stragglers affect their plans much - if at all. The most dangerous thing would be if you had to go into town for supplies. Blending in and shit just doesn't feel possible and sure as shit isn't safe, so you'd want to take some crop seeds to grow your own fruits and vegetables, and any animals you could get to the island to breed for food would be good. Chickens would be nice but not likely you'd be able to get them. Fish are a good go to though, since they're abundant and in the waters. Albeit we don't know if they only assimilate humans. We can assume they do, since we never see any implication of a non-human being assimilated. This would lead me to think that they only assimilate creatures of higher intelligence, so openly fishing would be safe. Shelter probably wouldn't be too difficult. If you were able to get out of a populated area after finding out about what was going on, but before it was too late, you'd of been able to get tents, a grill, and other various supplies from the local walmart loaded up in your vehicle. You could've then taken all of that down to the docks, loaded up a boat, and then just set sail. Which in that case you'd be set for awhile. And make sure any newcomers to the community bring stuff as well. But yeah, in the end, if a situation like this ever happened, our race wouldn't survive except for pockets of remote civilizations and hastily built communities.

@@Alino- the problem is not just the clones but the ants itself and as we all know, ant colonies are everywhere. No island would be safe if spores from the wind can reach it and infect the ants. Can't even escape ants if we try living in a ship. There really is nothing humanity can do on Earth in this kind of situation but to go to space and we all know that's not an option for 99% of the population. It's a perfect elimination method for us.

@@Alino- This is genius! The only issue I see would probably be getting to an island in the first place, youd need to first, find one, and who knows if you have a vheicle safe to even get to a boat, then theres the issue of you probably not knowing how to operate a boat
