The smarter thing to do would have been to try and smash the record and hope the demonic possession hadn't rendered the record also indestructible to stop the spell before it completed.

I mean 1 way to make sure the book never harms anyone would be to wrap it in plastic with very large stickers on it that said, "Warning, Contains Human Feces, Biohazard"... Sure in the first Evil Dead movie Ash did manage to burn the book- But then he was suddenly at the morning before driving to the cabin with only his girlfriend. I'm willing to bet (Lorewise) that the Book/Entity turned back time and altered events in what it believed to be in it favor, having Ash bring only his girlfriend instead of all his friends and sister so he isn't overwhelmed by Deadites and grows desperate enough to burn the book again.

Real question for all of you guys in the comments: do any of you have weapons in your house? Every single horror movie, people have no weapons to defend themselves and I’m wondering if that’s the norm. I know guns can be hard to obtain in some places, but I have several combat knives, pepper spray, a tactical flashlight that can light up a huge room or be used to blind someone, and my trusty hammer. I mean it worked in Evil Dead 1... Then suddenly Ash was going back to the cabin with only his girlfriend and everything was the way it was before he first got there. I know IRL it was because Sam ironically couldn't get the rights to the first movie for a 'Previously on Evil Dead' sequence and he had to film a 'new Evil Dead 1', but lore wise I'm willing to believe the Book/Entity reset the clock when the book was destroyed and altered events so Ash wouldn't try to burn the book again.

What i wouldve done is after the front door is barricaded I wouldve gathered as many clothes, blankets, bedsheets, etc, as possible and made a rope to climb out of the window
