Strangely, La Llorona is a lot more generous that you'd expect her to have been. She honestly reads like a significantly more adjusted Freddy Krueger, with her violence purposely directed at the victimizers, rather than the innocent. I was rooting for ALMA to do as she needed, as The War Criminal deserved every punishment offered.

Still, either because of my talismans or because I made it clear I was not to be fucked with did keep the figure away. I still don't want to try my luck traveling along side that road again. This movie shows why power is so addictive. A person guilty of unspeakable evil is usually being protected by corrupt law system and their former employees/thugs. They mostly avoid responsibility for anything they do, so they can play god at the cost of the weak and innocent as they please.
@DemonDante10009 ай бұрын
I think that the one thing that this movie demonstrates, quite clearly, is that Karens, in general, lack empathy, and that is why they are horrible people. Force them to walk a mile in another, much more unfortunate person's shoes, and they change their tune REALLY quick. But, you see, decent people are already capable of empathy inherently, on account of them being decent people.
@Cutiemuffinz5 ай бұрын
Without having watched this movie: I think the housekeeper knew darn well what was happening, and stayed to facilitate it and help get revenge. It was only when the others showed remorse and pity that she helped spare them the fate, but it had to be “Karen” who took him out, the staunchest defender who turned a blind eye had to be the one to finally say “enough” and take no more abuse. As to why they let a man with degenerative cognitive faculties have access to his guns: I don’t know if you’ve ever been around people with Alzheimer’s disease, but it doesn’t make them less scary until they are too far gone to even speak. This man was a tyrant and a terror, and I’m guessing everybody in that house was afraid of him. Just because his mind is starting to go doesn’t mean he isn’t crafty, cruel, paranoid, and just as (if not more) violent. A lifetime of habits trying to stay away from this guy’s bad side doesn’t vanish overnight. Totally plausible he still had command of the house and everybody still feared him in some way.

Is it just me or are we getting fewer and fewer truly good western horror movies now? Like in the last 20 years there have been more horror movies out out than ever and somehow much less actually good horror movies! IMO western horror just isn't what it used to be. We aren't innovative and groundbreaking anymore. Western horror is just so boring in general now. There's like 10 good horror movies/franchises in the last 20 years. And a lot of those movies were just rip off remakes of better foreign horror movies. I don't think it's just a problem with horror I think it's a problem with Hollywood in general. The writing quality has drastically dipped as the quality of special effects has gone up.

The case behind this movie is actually interesting and there is substantial physical evidence to back it up since I find testimony to be absolutely worthless in a court preceding. It is, however, unclear if this was an actual genocide or not because I could easily see that communists could live among these Mayan peoples and even be of them so from a communist vs capitalist perspective the intent could have been there, because there were no clear orders to exterminate them as a people. That being said killing civilians or POWs IS a war crime, so either way you slice it a crime was committed because people don't commit suicide with their hands tied behind their backs or dig their own mass graves.
