I liked this movie for what it is; Most people are not going to have a clue about how to deal with demonic possession unless its something youve been around or chose that field of work ; which is the point of the movie; Different religious beliefs, completely different families! However if the two families would have stayed on the same page the girls wouldnt have had to die. The end made me cry because im a mom so seeing katherine call out for her mom made me want to protect her and seeing the demon grab her was unsettling for me ; i feel like when youre a parent there is a protective nature that kicks in even when its just a movie or someone elses child. ❤

Tony and Miranda aren't taking the same approach because they don't know their daughter. I mean, seriously the first thing they did when they get their daughter back was take her to church and make her put on shoes after seeing the state of her feet. Something that always baffles me in films like this is how inefficient the church is. If demons worked the way they do in movies like this, you'd expect bringing in your local priest for a inspection and having hin make a phone call would be enough so that in half an hour a C-17 would be airdropping a squad of battle brothers and war sisters dackdout in the mightiest , holliest of weapons and gear available with more on the way just for kicks. Now it's all fun and games to be performing back alley exorcism and all but if the forces of the demonic were really popping off every so often and killing people by the hand full you think the the catholic church would be the biggest military super potency in the planet, reserving themselves the right to launch holly inquisitions whenever they think a country is harboring the forces of evil.
@lightsword6832
@lightsword6832 Жыл бұрын
I mean this respectfully but I think you missed something really important, even with demon working the way they do in films like this plenty of people still don't believe. Like these movies have 100% real/provable demons in universe to a point I think it would be safe to say a religion is 100% real. My guess is the church's inefficiency is based on how many don't believe, since any failed exorcism, false alarm would cause non-believers to have a cow. These movies don't seem to take place in a theocracy (state ran by the church), so people from other religions, or non-believers would always likely stand opposition. tl;dr even with clear provable demons (in the movie), people still choose to not believe (from my understanding) in religion
@questionmarks4431
@questionmarks4431 Жыл бұрын
@@lightsword6832 The real issue is, demons from other religions, if they exist, can be exorcised by Christian rituals and vice versa ? Cuz if they don't, if you consider that they have being running a muck ever since the early days of humanity, communities that refuse christianity would just die out i mean if i'm a demon i'll chose to possess someone that is as far away as possible from someone that can actually do something against me. A universe where demons exist, can jump into people's bodies and start reeking havoc on society and can only be stopped by the preacher of one specific religion will naturally evolve into being a world wild mono-faith theocracy. Even the non believers will have to start practicing the main religion alt of a need to survive.

I found the ending so thought provoking because we live in a society where everyone no matter their faith believes they are holier than thou, in this case even the most god fearing person was not above temptation and the person they shunned for questioning their faith was who triumphed. The day after we saw this my friends and I were driving on a trip and found ourselves so quiet thinking of how it ended

@paytonyoder1260
@paytonyoder1260 Жыл бұрын
The problem with that is, why would a non-religious figure be able to successfully do something religious like an exorcism? Anybody can succumb to temptation, that’s never really been in contention. Part of the requirement for an exorcism is your faith in the higher power. What is thought provoking about a fundamental misunderstanding of how an exorcism occurs? It’s literally a movie that you can control how things work out. It can be detached from reality and still work, it made you think that a religious ceremony can be preformed by non-religious people. It shows a lack of understanding of what an exorcism is and the requirements of preforming one.

Those two priests died to save Regan. That’s kinda what turned me away from the film. “It’s the patriarchy!” Yeah, you’re so oppressed by the two priests that saved your daughter and want you safe from possible possession or any harm. This entire movie is woke nonsense. From the "bad white people", the single black father which we know isn't a thing, to dragging male priests through the mud, handing over the reigns to a female who according to Christianity cannot speak for God in any circumstance, the inclusive throw in every religion garbage, etc. etc. It truly nailed the DEI checklist.

You overlooked why Chris chose to be alone with the possessed Catherine; she never expected Angela to name drop Regan to her. It shook her. She got one alright. :)

I disagree, if you look at all the strong Priest, mediums and demonologist. Like Ed and Larrain Warren. They never get distracted no matter what. Somebody might levitate 😂but Ed gonna keep praying. I think Chris was an expert in demonic Possession and her heart was in a the right place but remember she also stated she wasn’t present for her daughter’s exorcism. So Chris never actually experienced a real life exorcism. There’s no way she was prepared to know how deep the demon would go to play on her weaknesses and eliminate her as a threat.

It's ok to summon demons but she didn't summon demons she was speaking to her mom but she could have done a safe way. I'm A psychic and I talk to dead people thru Angels not voodoo . When I do talk to people through voodoo realms then it's possible A demon will come up if you don't have the right tools.

Writing for horror movies is such shit now a days. All they care about is throwing in some jump scares but have no care with actually creating a good story. Even though Jordan Peele's movies aren't even remotely scary at least they're written well and leave you thinking in the end. Hereditary in my opinion is one of the best horror movies to be made recently because it makes you wonder what comes next pretty much the whole entire movie

@@eduardoceron4636I think this argument is tired honestly- it’s just two different approaches. You can either approach it as the best way to survive using the knowledge the average person would have, taking into account human behaviour in danger or the idealised method of survival where human behaviour doesn’t play a role. They both can bring interesting things to the table

Could you please do a “how to beat” video on a movie called “attraction” or it’s second part? It has cool alien water benders and giant space ships capable of deep faking , controlling mass media and framing people for domestic terrorism. And it has a cool revolution and a government corruption scheme.(It also has a cool underwater scene).I am asking for the ninety fifth (almost a 100 lmao) time and will continue asking.

Yeah, definitely with you on the veggie-ism. Oh yes, it comes across as all sweet and moral to not consume juicy, protein-rich flesh, but the salads lead to quorn, which leads to veggie burgers and frozen yoghurt. And finally you hit rock bottom and before you know it your brain un-alives itself with only one horrific consequence: Environmentalism. You know it's true, it's a sad and spiral down from eating the odd carrot to driving a bloody awful car and endlessly ranting about your "Carbon Footprint". Vegetarianism: Just Say No, boys and girls....

Though the movie was entertaining to me, this segment exposes how poorly written this movie was and the gaps in the plots! From the parents not getting the girls fully evaluated mentally, to Chris trying to engage the demon on her own, to the priest not following his own advise to not touch the possessed, to the family members participating in the exorcisms and communicating with the demon(s). Always remember to never negotiate with terrorists, and to never negotiate with demons b/c you will certainly lose either way! Lastly, no one in the group had any experience performing any exorcisms much less one successfully so why would they gamble with their daughter's lives and souls in such a reckless manner to not have sought out the help from experts who have experience successfully performing an exorcism!!!
