Here's the problem with far too many of these "humming and beatboxing at the same time" tutorials: there's a sort of hidden trick that's never mentioned... except in one particular video I found. Allow me to elaborate: Your body has 2 air passageways: (1) from the mouth to the lungs, or (2) from the nose to the lungs. I presume the reason why your beatboxing sounds break up the humming is ultimately because you're trying to get air from the mouth into/or out of the lungs while making your beatbox sounds, but the lungs have to be used for the humming; obviously this is impossible to combine the 2 if you want the humming to be continuous. To avoid this, you need to block off that first air passageway (from the mouth to the lungs). This is easily done by just placing the very back of your tung against the very back of your mouth; this is actually what you do when you prepare to say the letter "K", or on the end of the word "sing". Now you can do this while humming, because that second air passageway (from the nose to the lungs) is unobstructed. Since the humming comes from your nose, it's easy to see why this is possible. Now, to make the beatboxing sounds while humming in this way, you just use your lip and cheek muscles to create the airflow needed to make the sounds; you're completely bypassing your lungs at this point because you use them for the humming. If you've ever tried performing the "circular breathing" trick, this is actually very similar in concept to that.

try touching the back of your tung against the back of your mouth; this blocks off the air-passageway between the mouth and lungs, so that when you breathe in and out (or hum, for that matter), the air has nowhere else to go but through your nose. You then just have to simply use your lips and cheek muscles to provide the airflow needed to make your beatboxing sounds (I.E the aria around the front of your mouth); you're completely bypassing your lungs to make your sounds as they're now being used strictly for the humming (or breathing). So not only can you hum with this technique, but this means you can beatbox with just your mouth while breathing in and out through your nose and never run out of air! If you've ever tried performing "circular breathing", then it's very similar in concept to this.

@justinnaramor60502 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna repeat what I've already written in some other comments: you need to touch the back of your tung against the back of your mouth in order for this to really work (something soooooo many of these humming while beatboxing tutorials completely fail to mention, and I really don't know why). There are 2 paths the air can take to get into or out of your lungs: (1) through the mouth and then to the lungs, or (2) through the nose and then to the lungs. Touching the back of the tung to the back of the mouth causes the first path (mouth to lungs) to be closed off, so the air has nowhere else to go but the nose. Since the humming sound comes from the nose, it's not hard to understand why this works. While keeping the back of your tung against the back of your mouth, you would then just use the lips and cheek muscles to provide the airflow needed for your beatboxing sounds; you're completely bypassing your lungs for this now as they're used strictly for the humming. It's really not that hard.
