Really have enjoyed watching through your videos the last few days. Came across it while doing some research for a Western script I'm trying to work up, and subscribed after a couple entertaining videos. You live a more interesting life than you give yourself credit for. Those of us whose hearts are in open country but whose bodies are stuck in cities, are entertained even by watching a field get plowed. It's just the feeling of being out there with nothing but the wind and the mountains. Hope this encourages you as to how others see your videos, and I hope you get back to uploading some more soon. Thanks so much!

Mike Ozmun thank you for the support! I am anxious to make some new videos but have been struggling to make time.... (my office is a mess!) but I think reading what you have said and what a few other have emphasized may have given me another push to do so! Thank you!

Dude you made some interesting content on here, you're crazy for not keeping it up? You're a handsome guy, you got a good way with talking on cam about life working on a ranch, you live in a pretty BEAUTIFUL place... yeah it seems boring, maybe but I think there's probably a lot of topics you could whack out there. Had you kept this up, I think your channel would have blown up after a couple of years but you needed to have put up at least a couple of videos a month. Well it's not too late. I was looking into living on a farm and life as a cowboy and all that stuff because it's hard to find anything really authentic. Anyway, good luck in whatever you do but sheesh, don't give up.

I'm a Malaysian. I lived kinda suburban area . Sometimes did go to the countryside in Malaysia. So I'm kinda used too being out in that area but we aint do horse riding or anything related with livestocks . We normally grow crops like durians, corn or palm oils. Did thinking to move to Arkansas since my dad had some friends over there, start a new life . I'm studying automotive engineering right now. I'm interested working on ranches but I'm quite nervous and all because I dont have experience with horses and cattles. On top of that, I really like to start that farm life .
@anthonylambert1225 Жыл бұрын
At the particular ranch/farm I worked at I was hired on as the mechanic and as such my primary job became farming (hay production). Most ranches will have people who specialize in doing specific chores, from the cattle perspective, one person may check minerals and water sources while one checks fencing. Moving the cows on any sort of drive will be a whole ranch effort with a few hired hands thrown in. Hay doesn’t grow in winter so as a semi decent mechanic I normally was able to keep up with the breakdowns and didn’t have winter projects like most guys do. Basically in winter, I converted to helping with the cows full time. The cows were home for winter and were calving so we were certainly busy with it. TLDR: I had very little cattle experience and was hired solely on my mechanical ability/work ethic. Despite having horse experience, the cattle/horse experience comes with time and eagerness

I'm almost 15 and I live in England but I plan to move to either Canada or the US to become a ranch hand when I'm older mainly because I like the look of the lifestyle and I would enjoy having a day of hard work instead of having an office job. I have been riding for around 5 years now but I've only ever ridden English, where I live there are not a lot of western riding schools especially none that are close to me. I plan to go to college and get an apprenticeship in animal care and plan to visit a dude ranch so I can see what the lifestyle is all about before making any big decisions. I hate sitting around doing nothing because i feel like i am wasting time, so i would be down to learn new things and help out as much as possible. The only work experience I have gotten is one day filling in for someone at my local farm/stable and I have helped my neighbour out with her horse a few times (including mucking out, feeding, grooming, tacking up and riding) Do you think this would be possible for me? And would going to college for animal care help me in looking for a job as a ranch hand?
@anthonylambert12254 жыл бұрын
I’ve got to say, you’ve really asked the right questions! I’d say if you know how to ride translating your English riding skills into a western saddle will be a piece of cake. Maybe you could get a western saddle and try one of the horses out on that? A dude ranch would be good to get an introduction but you have to keep in mind that they try to keep it fun and often don’t teach you the purpose behind anything because more often than not they are doing something just to do it.... still a very good introduction. Also getting a degree in animal husbandry is definitely advantageous for working for large cattle companies and working into a management role, but as I explained in one of my videos the farming industry is a very big “You either can or you can’t” industry. What it will mainly help with is building experience and that is what everyone really wants and their are plenty of outfits willing to teach :) hope that helps, Cheers!

You should do a video about the ranch, how big it is, and some of the machinery
@anthonylambert12257 жыл бұрын
+tyler simpson my ranch has 2350 deeded and probably at least 100000 leased if not closer to 750000. Approx 500 are irrigated. We have a ton of machinery. The amount is really hard to put into picture but we have two JD 4630, 1 JD 2640, 1 4650, 1 similar to a 4630 (don't remember the model), a CAT 623E, a JD Backhoe, and aftermarket JD backhoe, a water truck, a dump truck, a big ass articulated Allis Chalmers, a 96' Hesston Windrower tractor, and so much more, not to mention 11 or so four-wheelers, and 5 rigs. We run approximately 600 head. All of this ran with only two paid hands and 2 full time family members. Can't do a video for the ranch because my employer was not comfortable with being filmed... or much of the property. Sorry :/

I live in east TN and I can’t find any ads or people in need of a ranch / farm hand. We don’t grow anything around here. We have pockets of cattle farmers, but no ranches. Funny enough I live in a ranch house built in the 1940’s. Sad it’s all now a neighborhood

+John Lake very good question just type in ranch hand or cowboy in the search and it will bring up nearby at the bottom of the search. Just put the searches in some of the larger cities close to cowboy country. Since your in Ohio I'd try somewhere in the Dakotas or Nebraska but do your due diligence. Feel free to ask more questions!

what time of year is busiest for ranch hands?
@anthonylambert12253 жыл бұрын
Spring and fall, when the cows get moved to and from grazing permits. There’s several things that happen surrounding the moves (fence repair, vaccinations, steering/branding, weaning, etc). Basically winter is a down season in the colder areas but often time ranch projects are done during this time for that reason, mechanical, construction or otherwise, and it’s only a True down time after calving season in early winter. Outside of that, all you gotta do is feed.
@anthonylambert12253 жыл бұрын
But that essentially means fall, and I think that’s a theme across the entire industry.
@deepthinker-k4m3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonylambert1225 Thank you for answering so quickly! Unheard of, on KZbin. Is summer typically busy, and is the work very exhausting? A friend of mine is seriously considering this.
@anthonylambert12253 жыл бұрын
Ya I try to answer everyone as quickly as possible :) summer is busy but not as much so, maybe moving cows from one paddock to the next but they graze themselves and you just walk fences, put out minerals and depending on the outfit haul water. If it’s a ranch/farm I as a mechanic (or anyone who’s available to drive a tractor) was always busy with the machines, but it always comes in waves (the fields gotta grow). I would also say it’s very exhausting, busy season or not, but it’s rewarding and you feel like you’re doing something real “it ain’t much, but it’s honest work” 😂
