Hi! I don't know if you're still gonna read and answer this, but as someone with the ambition to become one day a creative director, would you rather recommend a BA in Fine Arts, Design and such, or do you think a BA in Creative Business, International Media & Entertainment Management, or.. Let's say the less creative and more practical side of it? I'm really troubled with this decision and I would love some help from someone in the field! Thanks for (eventually) making time to answer my question!

I would recommend Ba in business of creative Industries, or something similar. For reasons: it will give you broad knowledge while you figure out what area you wish to specialize in later on in your professional life. In a career path it is usually best to start broad then narrow down once you have had a taste of different disciplines and areas you are in a better position to then select what you wish to focus on. This degree will give your career path a good foundation. Remember the most important thing is having the discipline to be self taught and exposing yourself to the creative industry to gain as much valuable experience as possible. For example, volunteering to shadow on aorject just to be in the enviroment and watch experts work and even gain rapport.

Mark, although it wasn't in your list of skills needed, your point of expecting to change the lives of many people / organizations as a creative director really resonated with me. It is the why to all of this, at least in my mind. I see the reason why working with recognizable organizations is so important; it's because there's better access to creating meaningful impact. That sounds cliche, but I never actually grasped the idea until now. I want you to know that. Thank you.
@dukewilliam36605 жыл бұрын
The issue is landing a role with a "recognizable organization" is highly competitive . It is unimaginable the volume of candidates they get. It is better to work towards it ( networking, schmoozing etc)but not wait for it. its better to start some where than not start at all. Thats what I did...more than 10 years ago. :-)

Good afternoon) Could you recommend smth for building the creative director’ network? Do you have the online courses? What’s kind of prof. experience should i have (from your video I understood it can be different and specified by company where you will work)? What’s the difference between Art Direction and Creative Direction? Thank you. And, please, write your e-mail)

@hustlegrit91115 жыл бұрын
Shyshyxox not really... I’ve worked with a really talented guy that took a few design courses (never got past the first year), and I’ve worked with some amazing talent but went to a liberal arts school. I think it’s much more important to be a self taught, life long learner.
