Hey Kevin! I think it would be great if you made a video in which you explore the combined residency programs (eg. med/peds, neuro/psych, med/psych, triple board...) and explained where they stand in terms of competitiveness with one another and their individual programs. That would help me a lot as I'm thinking of applying to med/psych as of lately. Much love!

So I have a question and hope anyone answers if we applying by the end of our junior year what if a student moves the requirements to senior year like bio chemistry? What can be done?
@Austinteffeteller11 күн бұрын
Some schools will let you submit classes or even the MCAT after you submit your application. In most cases you would want to have your prerequisites done by the time you apply. It also would be tough to have taken the MCAT without having done biochemistry. However, Each school will specify when you need to have all the classes submitted by (:

Does this apply for becoming a surgeon?
@bobiscius95611 күн бұрын
Yeah, your gpa or quartile in med school classes may need to be a bit higher depending on the specialty. Or one thing some people I know are doing is shadowing the specialty they know/think they want and getting in situations to know the department chair, residents, and nursing staff of that area. She is playing the long game for plastics but it sounds like a good idea to me

Do I have to study biology to study medicine? I'm not American so how do I do that? I hope you can answer.
@bobiscius95611 күн бұрын
No, there were a few people in my undergrad who got into med school with a music major. As long as you do the prereqs for med school (if the school still requires them) and you do well on the MCAT it is totally possible. Biology is nice because the major’s courses overlap with a ton of the MCAT subjects as well as school prerequisites.
@Jdot98410 күн бұрын
You’ll have to take biology courses but doesn’t have to be your major

Great video, with neatly organized content. However, I'm truly surprised about the requirements and what one must do in order to practice medicine. Besides doing spectacularly at your tasks, you also need to be basically a people pleaser - for the job interviewers, for the mentors, and your future boss. And don't give me these statements that everything in the interview/ essay needs to be genuine and authentic. I think everyone knows it, yet all vehemently denies it. You're mostly there for the money, or it's a job that you're good at and somewhat enjoy practicing it. You just need to say the things that they want to hear. And if you're truly good at something, especially in medicine, you'll hardly have time for hobbies... Enough for my rant. As a resident in my last year from another country, I'm in no place to criticize. Where I'm from it's quite different, and not so tedious. Just watching your video makes me wonder how many American citizens become doctors?
