i love how open and straight forward you are! I am 18 years old, wanting to be a flight attendant for either Delta or American Airlines. I am doing a little research to gain a little knowledge about this career. I think its so cool you guys get free room and board for the relocation training, with me being so young that was definitely one of my worries. Thank you so much 🤍 What age did you start? and what airline do you work for?

Good Morning! I'm considering being a flight attendant for united. I'm 38. Is there a age restriction to be a flight attendant? Also, if im required to relocate how much time will they allow me to transition?

How quickly after you finish training and get your job base location do you have to relocate? Will I have enough time to find a place to live and move? Will I need to save up money for after training for two three weeks to move and relocate?

This video was so helpful! I’m interested in flight attendant career and was wondering when they relocated you to the base in a different state, do they pay for the flight from home to that base?
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife 2 жыл бұрын
yes they do. they will make sure you have a flight to any and everything for company business.. if you decide to live away from base, then it would be your responsibility to get to work but other than that, they got you! thanks for watching ♥️
@savannahkennnedy6463
@savannahkennnedy6463 Жыл бұрын
So since they relocated you… obviously they covered your flight but are you then responsible for getting a place? Do they tell you how long you’ll be based there? How does that all work.. most apartments want to know your income and seems like there isn’t really a straight answer.
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife Жыл бұрын
you are responsible for getting a place and you have to stay at your base for 6 months then you can put your transfer request in but there is a list and it all depends on your seniority and availability in the base you’re trying to get into.
@shattashawn
@shattashawn 10 ай бұрын
You mentioned with the relocating. Do they base your pay on states, because of how rent and stuff within that city?
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife 10 ай бұрын
unfortunately they do not. it only goes by seniority on how much you make.

Great video! Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. As far as pay goes, since ~$28.88 is the average starting rate per hour, do you get time & a half (x1.5) for anything over 8 hours and then double time (x2) for anything over 12 hours? I work in the film industry, but am considering transitioning career paths and this is how we calculate pay for the day. I'm asking because 78 hours x $28.88 = $2,52.64 (before taxes) would barely even cover rent, especially considering I live in a very expensive city (Los Angeles).
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife Жыл бұрын
unfortunately no. we only get time and a half on holidays.. LA is a tough city starting out. I lived in SFO for the first year and had a few roommates .. it’s something you have to be committed to and know you can make work 💕

Hi. Thank you for your videos, they've been very informative 🙂I'm trying to wrap my head around the hours. You said when you start off, you're guaranteed to be paid 78 hours for the month, but that's it's also a full time position. I'm used to 36-40 hours per week being full time. So when you start off are you only guaranteed part time hours for the month? I know you said you can do more shifts if you want, but I'm guessing finding more shifts isn't guaranteed. Also, do you know many flight attendants with spouses and kids? Is this career possible with a full family? I'm looking to make a career change.
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife 2 жыл бұрын
so it is full time but working 40 hours per week is extremely hard.. it makes more sense when you’re in it but it’s considered full time. and yes I have plenty of FA friends with full families ☺️ so dont let that deter you

Thanks for making this video🙂! Just a quick question, when they tell you what base you’re going to be at, how do you find roommates? Are they usually the other flight attendants that you work with? I’m asking because I know that in some states rent can be super high😭 and I would rather split the rent.
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife Жыл бұрын
thanks for watching! and its completely up to you how you do things after training but yes most times a couple or a few FAs will get a place together. that's what me and one of my friends from training did (:

If you apply to one airline and get the job, can you apply to another airline when they’re hiring? Does it depend on the airline?
@happylittlelife
@happylittlelife Жыл бұрын
it's like any other job in that regard, you can apply but you'd have to receive an offer and go through training again. it doesn't transfer across airlines if that's what you mean. hope that helps!
