I'm so thankful I came across your videos. I'm 37 years old and I live in a small city in Alabama. And I have herniated discs in my back and I can't do certain jobs that I used to do in the past. It's really best that I don't go around lifting heavy objects. And it's great if a job is willing to offer accommodations for someone that has herniated discs so they can be able to avoid any heavy lifting if possible. It doesn't mean that we still can do a wide variety of things and perform great on the job but it does present some concerns because I deal with pains in my back on a regular basis. I usually can stand up for far longer periods than I can sitting down. And I decided to try going a different path than the one-on-one. So I've went back to school and have been studying for my GED for several months now. I've been so lost and trying to figure out what it is that I meant to do. I have experience in customer service and I used to co-own a consignment shop. And I worked in grocery stores and worked customer service desk and did Western Union sending money nationally and internationally. And although I do have issues with advanced math due to having discalcula, I don't have it as bad as some people do who have trouble counting money and stuff like that. I mainly struggle when it comes to very advanced math. And so I never thought I could handle college. Though I do know there are several people you have this dyscalcula and struggle in math get accommodations and tutoring in college and some of them like my friend went on to become an English teacher and she retired and is living quite well with her husband. But she said that math was always really hard on her. And she failed her math and then had to retake it again and passed with a c. So I know it's possible for people who have struggles like I do with other advanced math or physical limitations. And it can be hard trying to find a new path especially at my age. And I'm married and I can't just go off and move for a job. But the problem is I live in a small city one hour away from Birmingham, and there's not a lot of job opportunities unless you want to get into human resources or health care of some kind. So I don't really know what I would be good in and what I can handle if I do got to college. But I will say that I have a burning desire to see the world and to travel and to see something other than my small little city. I feel like I'm trapped here and I can't leave because this is where my husband works and for his family is and with me it's completely different because all of my closest family members have passed away. So only my husband and his family who I love is what holds me here. That being said, I really want the opportunity to be able to travel and have the means to do so. And it would be so wonderful to be able to go on vacations with my family that we normally would never be able to afford to go to. And I can't help but wonder if this is something I might be able to do. Now I know that college degrees is not exactly required but I have heard that degrees and hospitality management and tourism can certainly help you get hard or seek more leadership roles and this is all new to me so I would appreciate it if you could advise me on one or some great college degree programs I should consider studying that I can handle even with me having issues with advanced math. And if it's a great degree that can offer me job opportunities even if things with becoming a flight attendant doesn't work out. Because I do hear that it's really hard just to even get through the hiring process as a flight attendant. And I had no idea that they only have small windows of when they are hiring. I definitely would be more interested in working in a commercial airline based in Birmingham Alabama. And online I read where people said that it is possible to continue living where I am an hour away from Birmingham Alabama if I was to try for a flight attendant position for Southwest airlines for example. I definitely would want to go with a commercial airline status part of a union. So if you have any suggestions or links to videos of yours that I should watch please let me know. And You mentioned that you sometimes post when these airlines are hiring, can you provide me with information on how to find you and keep up with when these places are hiring? I'm curious since you also once lived in Alabama, what airlines would you suggest are best that pay well and are part of the union that are both commercial or regional airlines. Even though I would prefer commercial. I just want to get my foot in the door. And I don't know exactly how much starting out pay is for a flight attendant. And how much the salary increases after 10 years but I would appreciate any advice you have or information. Also I have a question on the benefits after working as a flight attendant for 10 years and retiring. Say for example you worked for an airline for 10 years as a flight attendant and you decided to quit and do something else. Do you still get benefits From the airline because it sounded like you can based on what I read online. Also, I heard that if you have her needed discs and certain issues that you can get accommodations and avoid any extreme heavy lifting. So I definitely would want to do that and I have proof of my herniated discs in x-rays to show for it. I just wonder if it's still a possibility even though online it sounded like it was. But I would appreciate any information you can provide me. And I hope you have a blessed day.
