Really, really good video. Feel like I have a much better understanding of what is necessary. Other videos just say “be good at talking to customers” and “know how to manage people”. This is infinitely more helpful.

Good video. I already hold a bachelor in nursing, one in computer science and some subjects in social sciences. I can't get a job in tech since I finished my cs degree in 2023. I have started on a master degree in business, but still cant get a job in product management. I have good recommondations, but I get told that my lack of experience in teams with developers is a "downer" :O
@ProductManagerAnthony10 ай бұрын
That's definitely frustrating to hear - especially since you have a computer science degree! Have you gotten far into PM interviews and then you get that feedback at the end?

Hello! About analytics...is it possible to get a hold of it even if you haven't done anything related to data analysis in college? Can product designers also switch into management?
@ProductManagerAnthony11 ай бұрын
Yes definitely possible! Check out my channel for the first video in a Product 101 series on Analytics. It’s definitely something someone can gradually learn and practice.

I’m 36. In project management for a tech based distribution company. I most design warehouses with cad professionals and engineers, manage jobs and contractors. I like tech stuff and drawn to it but this hit me after college ( I didn’t have a good compass of what I wanted in college like most people). I find the product manager position. Very interesting. my question is does my prior skill set fit in any way to markets that use product managers and if I go get a certificate as well as learn some things based off of this video would make a good transition to this type of job?

For the first skill mentioned would you recommend people start out learning data analytics first?

Yes I think that would be a great start!

@@ProductManagerAnthonyDo you think I should get a role in data analytics first and then transition to Product?
@ProductManagerAnthony8 ай бұрын
It depends on your background! Are you currently a student and if so what degree are you getting? If you’re working full time what’s your role?

Gotcha! I think getting a data analytics role first would be a good next step towards pivoting into Product eventually.

I'm a second year uni student - do u think a double major in marketing and data analytics is a good background to become a product manager? I was thinking of doing something marketing or business analytics related after graduation then transitioning into a PM role. pls give me some insight!:)

Would you recommend getting a bachelors degree? If so in what sector? Also can you break through in this industry without one?
@ProductManagerAnthony3 ай бұрын
I would strongly recommend getting a bachelors degree. A degree such as computer science would be ideal to gain a technical skill set. I think it would be quite challenging if not impossible to break into product without a bachelors degree at the minimum.

Thank you for this insightful video! I have a strong background in graphic design and Arts, so I wonder what kind of advantages it gives me for a PM role?
@ProductManagerAnthony Жыл бұрын
Awesome! Having that background definitely gives you advantages when it comes to overall design excellence / your ability to collaborate with other designers on the UX.
