Wish I could get into this. I've had people tell me my entire life I'm a really good and safe driver. I was driving cars when I was 12. But for rally you need to have the balls but not be overconfident..also be able to stay alert more than you would being an aircraft pilot. Anyone in north east United states wanna team up and start a little club or something? I want to get involved in this even if its begginer rally school..

I recall watching on TV a driving programme that pitted the top rally drivers against top F1 drivers. It must have been a good 25+ years ago. Sadly, I cannot recall the name of the programme though. However. My point is this. Of all the races I ever saw, 90% of them were won by the rally drivers. Which isn't surprising seeing what rally drivers have to drive over compared to F1 drivers. And the speed of the rally drivers has to be seen to be believed. I went to some forest in the middle of Wales 30 odd years ago to watch a stage of the WRC and those drivers were tanking it through the forest at phenomenal speeds and all on gravel. It was both awesome to watch and a tad scary too.

Hi my 40th birthday present was a day at the Bill Gwynne rally school a few years ago now and I too got to drive and Subarus, it was an epic, totally different than driving on the road will never forget it (it may have helped as I had a Subaru Impreza STI as I somehow bagged driver of the day!) . I have to say though the stage we drove on was nowhere near the size of the one you were on that looked a fair size!! 👍😎😎

You just need to try a tarmac stage next..! Rallying drains your money, you spend hours building it -under the car, and if you bend it on a rally your have to spend money on repairs if you have the money. You do very little driving compared to the hours of preparation and planning. It isn't glamorous.BUT can be extremely rewarding If you have the time and lots of money, and dedication,do it.When you drive on a rally you have to learn to drive all over again, its totally different from anthing else. Forget how you have driven before,it won't help you.
