As an Indonesian, this is actually closely relevant with several news in my country where some people declared themselves as king/emperor/sultan. Some even spend money to create govt building and made up political cabinet where some people are convinced to become part of the new kingdom/country. One of them even create their own currency! In the North East of England we had a figure of some similarity, the bag man. My grandmother often told tales of him being a very wealthy man in secret, though he carried all of his possessions with him where he went (hence the nomiker bag man) after his wife divorced him. He was always well spoken and very kind, and people legitimately liked the man. I haven't seen him for years though, and the city centre does seem bleaker without him there.

Simply awesome video Qxir ! I've never taken my nobility claims as high as Emperor Norton's, or yours for that matter. However, much to the annoyance of my friends and neighbors, I have always considered myself the Omnipotent Ruler Of Lawrenceville, a relatively small neighborhood located in Pittsburgh, Pa. In fact, it still irks me that people have the flat out disrespect to ignore my often stated edict and verbal mandates that one must first call me for permission before even considering rolling through Da Ville. Where I can usually be found atop my garage clapping at pigeons, ala "Training Day". I'll tell ya. Sometimes it feels as if I get no respect.
