I made up the 50 page rule. I find that if I'm not interested by the time I get to page 50, I'm not going to like the book and I give myself permission to not finish it. I'm a library book borrower and I usually have a pile of books to still go through. Also, when I find that I'm not going to finish the book, I'll skim the rest of it to get an idea of where it was going and that surprisingly is satisfying.

I've read 62 books so far this year (books and video games are basically all I do with my free time, and I'm a fast reader. Plus I can read when my class goes down for their naps and on my lunch break) and my biggest problem is stopping. I get so sucked into books that I find it hard to stop reading. With longer ones, like Stephen King books, I put sticky notes at intervals to remind myself to check out of the book and check into life for a bit. If you don't mind used books, I really recommend Thriftbooks. I ordered 15 books Friday (payday!) and only paid $60.

Little fires everywhere is sooooo good! Another reading tip... if you have a kindle or even a smartphone, download audiobooks for free from the library. It’s free and yes you sometimes have to wait but it’s convenient having the book on your device and not having to worry about forgetting it at home. Also, my library uses overdrive which allows you to log onto your account from a computer, so if you have some downtime at work you can read your book in there lol. Sorry for all the info but I’m a librarian and appreciate your tips!

I love my books 😍 But sometimes you don't make time for reading! You just scrole on your phone or watch TV. I read a lot of books earlier this year but I have not been feeling well and I guess I stopped putting it on my prioritylist :( This video really inspired me to start reading again! I felt like I dont want to have a number of books I have to read by the end of the year. My goal is simply to read one hour before going to bed at night. If Im at the end of one book I need to find a new one so that I can start the next book when Im done with the first. In that way there is no gap between and I can also pick up the book Im most interested in reading at that time. If I get any suggestions I put it on my readinglist if I really want to read it and I also use the list as a backup just in case I cant find something that I would like to read! Much love ❤️

I feel like Watt-pad was nice because I wasn’t distracted by the physical pages but I also had a community of people to communicate with when a surprising or funny moment happened unlike if I was reading a physical book and I couldn’t chat with the people who were on the same page as me.

HI! I saw this video and I am very much in great support of your avid passion for reading. As for my perspective of reading books when it's so difficult to get through, and being forced to put it down... you know. I highly suggest, from my experience, not to donate it. I take that reality as a Hinting moment of society processing me into the community and testing me whether I'm capable of upholding the standard in which my life... ya know, entails me to be responsible for me, given my looks and education. with that said, I usually put the book down in a place where I'll always see it, and when I'm given the ability to be encouraged to continue on with reading the book (right), I persevere into finishing the book, even if it's painful and unbearable to read. I like to take that reality of not "enjoying the book" as a challenge and as the community "kicking me out" because "I'm better than I thought I was". I just had to find myself throughout the process.

On a certain level, we have a drug store in our brain, the neurochemicals that show up in flow: so dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, endorphins, and serotonin. If you were to try to cocktail the street drug version of that, right, you're trying to blend like heroin and speed and coke and acid and weed- and point is, you can't do it. It turns out the brain can cocktail all of 'em at once, which is why people will prefer flow to almost any experience on Earth. It's our favorite experience. It's the most addictive experience on Earth. Why? 'Cause it cocktails five or six of the largest pleasure drugs the brain can produce. We're all capable of so much more than we know. That is a commonality across the board. And one of the big reasons is we're all hardwired for flow, and flow is a massive amplification of what's possible for ourselves.¹

I'm probably going to start reading on my Kobo E-Reader again. I find that it makes books go much quicker and it has a bunch of handy things on it so if I don't know a word I can look up the built in dictionary and thesaurus. I read Battlefield Earth in Mass Market and it took me two months to finish but when I read something like Elantris it took me less than two weeks. That's my thing at least. Yes, I love physical books but some books are out of print that I want so getting them on Kobo is much less of a pain.
