Wondering how to become fluent in German quickly? Here's all that I did---and while it seems straightforward, keep in mind everyone learns at their own pace.
Even my current life situation and responsibilities were very different from when I became fluent in German quickly (that was years ago). Though this fluency story to become fluent in German quickly still stands...
I've discovered during my ENTIRE language learning journey (learning 8+ languages) how results will vary across languages, how becoming fluent quickly isn't always the most important goal, and how self compassion is the greatest language learning tool ultimately. At Language Travel Adoptee, this is where learning languages has led me, and I'd love for you to follow me on my journey.

Hi dear Emily, please forgive my worried and anguished- tone, but I truly feel you are the only one in this community who can understand. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with regards to German. I enjoy the language so much. Am I worrying too much and is this preventing me from learning? I'm so overwhelmed by the grammar. Yet so many people say that grammar is not even the way to study a language, like for example, 'babies don't learn languages by grammar' this is the typical response i always get..and I DO understand that...as kids we do not intensively study and memorize grammar rules. We pick up via immersion. My problem is, I'm NOT a kid anymore, and as an adult language learner, I feel more confident if I can really get the grasp of the grammar. I tried to make a list of all the grammar elements in German, everything: nouns, verbs, tenses, cases, pronouns in each case...prepositions...separable verbs, adjectives, I tried to compile everything and to be as thorough as I could. But I just can't understand, how will I ever get this? Do I just accept I can't learn this language and give up? I know it's not the end of the world if i Did and obviously it's not the only language in the world..but I feel sad as I invested so much time and energy and feel like I'm just too dumb with this language =( So sorry again Emily. I'm practically in tears as I write this because I just can't understand how to learn this language, maybe I did everything incorrectly.

i am also an intermediate in standard german and i never been to germany the actual country and i also have had some bad experiences with german but i do not know if i should stay with standard german or learn a german dialect. 😊😊 and it took me a year to be able to make sentences in standard german. 😊😊 and i have also struggled with the fact of not believing in myself but everyone in my family is so supportive of me and they all say i am smart while i have had others online people who do not know me have called me childish or indecisive or dumb.😅 😅 but i learned something super important through my whole situation with jasmin. although she does not deserve my time, energy, and friendship. i am still going strong with german although i am dabbling in german dialects. 😊😊

Everyone has a different timeline! Especially others' words can slow us down and I've experienced this too but glad it seems you've stuck with the language
