On the importance of learning gender/plural with nouns - if you start out doing it properly, you'll get better at guessing/intuiting it later on down the line! Same goes for cases and prepositions. There are no hard and fast "rules", but there sure are "vibes"

I have been studying German for three months, before the only language that I have studied it’s English, that everyone studies at school but in reality especially if you don’t have good teachers or if your country’s educational system isn’t well suited for learning new languages, you have learn it on your own. That’s was my case, I’m a 20 year old Italian, who is studying German because I would like to live in a German speaking country or at lest just knowing the language. A thing that I haven’t heard yet in an any video about learning languages is the impact of having studied Latin. I have studied it during the whole high school, overall you know what a case is and other grammar stuffs , but at end of the day you are more keen on reading and some form of writing, but it feels so weird to speak, luckily I’m trying to overcome this issue just talking to myself and learning concepts of grammar that I really need at some time, overall one of the aspect that makes me feel down is that German, compared to English requires more words to be able to speak at the daily level. So if someone reached this point of the comment, Herzlich Danke, do you know some KZbin channel, or podcast or whatever that really posts something of (real )real life. Overall thanks for the video, it’s inspiring to see someone’s efforts getting reworded, thanks also for the material you suggested us. Sorry if made some mistake in the comment. I would really appreciate if you can point them

I think about pronunciation this way: if you don't speak, your "speaking muscles" would not adapt to the language that you're learning. I have fallen into this trap because I just love doing my duolingo french lessons while commuting. But with German, I started speaking it from the first day of learning because I was forced to suddenly move to Germany and I wanted to communicate with people around me. Also, in my experience, most of people in Munich speak just regular Hochdeutsch or something very similar, so don't panic :)

5:20 A funny thing about talking/thinking to yourself in German is that you can end up creating your own special dialect of German which sounds correct to you based on your poor understanding of the language, but which sounds like complete rubbish to a native lol.

I am at the moment taking group classes with lingoda , it is helpful. But I still want to improve faster on my side. But I don’t know where to start. Where to give focus. My pronunciation is quite good. I just want to have more vocabulary and be able to use it. I’m at a A1 level , and already speak 5 languages. But 4 of them were learned at home with my parents that speak em, I only learned English at school. So I have no idea where to go for German. Like learning sheets or idk.

With my exams nearing, I am preparing for them earnestly. Once they conclude, I intend to relocate to Germany for my further studies., please anyone give your thought and advice on this descion of mine ?

A reason that kept me from starting German in the past is that it's filled with irregularities. However, so is life. In life we're presented with unpredictable situations, and things mostly don't have a textbook solution, so we must learn to tolerate ambiguity. Since we act like this in life, why not with a target language, since it's a part of life? This changed my POV and then I started learning German.

If you go to Switzerland you are .... ! You literally have to learn 2 languages! 1. high/standard german and 2. swiss german/schwyzerdüttsch . It's not really a different language but the sound is so far away... that you basically have to learn everything twice! LOL And as a bonus... swiss german sounds horrible and gross!
@PolarBear97333 ай бұрын
Wrong. Swiss German speakers will speak Standard German with you. (At least 99.9% of the time). You do not need to speak Swiss German, but understanding it will help to understand what is going on around you. I lived there and never had an issue using Standard German. Swiss people who speak one of the other languages (French, Italian, Romansh) as their first language learn Standard German in school. Some do understand one or more of the Swiss German dialects (there are several)., however. As to how Swiss German sounds, that’s personal taste. I actually like it.
