I think that KTET is needed for high school teachers. There is also guest lecturer post in colleges and I have never heard of the post of profferssor in colleges or universities. I think that professor post can be seen abroad, not in India.

I dont know whether its about either having PhD or NET qualification as you said or about the need to have a PhD even if you are qualified through NET exam.
