It seems as though you purchase your came in 3' lenghts to facilitate easier shipping for just a few pieces by the vendor. It may behoove you to buy came in larger quantities (i.e., a box of came) so that it can be shipped in 6' lenghts. Otherwise, you are stuck trying to splice two pieces of came together, which is not always desireable from an appearance standpoint.

It's just the copper that I had in 3'. My local shop only has zinc in 6' pieces, but I've since found a place to buy 6' copper. 👍🏻

Good Deal! 👍 Also consider buying larger sheets of glass since that will usually save a little $. It usually costs more to buy glass in 12"x12" sizes or smaller than a 24"x24" or larger piece. Larger sheets also provide more flexibility in doing larger panels with bigger pieces.

how small of a diameter can the came be bent to? I have small 2" glass circles and I'm not sure how to bend the came I have to fit them!

So 2" is pretty small, I don't know exactly how small the came can go, but I imagine it would kink at that small. You'd be better off with lead came, lead-free came, or just edge beading.

Great video! The instructions for the Cascade came bender mentions something about greasing the lower channel of the bender. Do you do that? If so, what type of grease do you use and where do you apply it?

It comes greased already, so I haven't had to regrease it yet. I'll probably ask my husband to do it when the time comes 😬

The saw is drillmaster from harbor freight (there's something similar on Amazon too). The came bender is Cascade, you can do a Google search and see what shops carry it.

Hi, great video. Can the came bender handle various width zinc? I use a lot of 3/8" zinc frames but am limited to squares without a bender.

It sure can! It works with all widths of zinc, as well as with U and H channels. You can also use it to bend brass and copper came; however, if you try to bend 1/8" copper, it just crinkles.

Hi! I don't remember which shop, but almost all of the big online shops carry copper, zinc, and brass came. Check Delphi, Ed Hoys, anything in stained glass.

Based on your video, I understand that when you run the zinc through the came bender, a certain amount of zinc on both ends is unusable because it can't be run all the way through the machine to curve it correctly. Based on your experience, would a 36 inch piece of zinc came be long enough to create a border for a 10 inch circle (taking into account the zinc ends which can't be used)?

It'll be very close. If you're using 1/4" zinc, it'll probably work. You end up cutting off 3.5"-4" total off the ends, and you need a little over 32" of 1/4" zinc to go around a 10" circle. So you're looking at exactly 36". If you are using any wider zinc, you'll need more than 36".

I would say, go ahead and try using a 36" piece. If it works, great, if not, you can use it for a smaller circular panel.
