I bought a set of your stone setting tools last year and I never loved a set of tools so much in my life. I am so happy that I bought them.

Thank you so much for this video! Yours is the only video I could find addressing this topic! One question, do you need to solder the wire down into the bezel/back plate? I don’t believe you mentioned that in the video. I may have missed it. Oh wait one more question, will this work for a bezel that’s slightly big for your stone? I hand made my bezel with this exact stone and it fit perfectly…yet somehow after soldering it to the back plate, now it’s too big.?? I didn’t hammer it or do anything that should’ve expanded the metal but here we are! FYI I’m a self taught metalsmith still in the early stages. 😬Again thank you so much for this and ALL your videos! I’ve watched nearly all of them (more than once)! I kind of consider you my personal instructor! Lol ☺️ You’re so good at explaining things in such a straightforward & simplified way. 🙏🏼 Andrea

I am so glad the videos have been helpful!! I don't solder the wire in place, the stone holds it in place once set. Bezels don't stretch when soldered, it is quite possible one side was bigger than the other and that side got soldered up. This method will still work if your bezel is roomy but a roomy bezel takes longer to set and won't look as neat. :)

Great video! Do you need to solder the ring of wire before placing it in the bezel/back plate?

No, I don't bother. It really can't go anywhere. :)

Thanks for the tip for raising the edges of the setting. Would doming the bottom of the setting with a burr or drilling a hole also work?
@JewelryArts2 жыл бұрын
Although technically drilling out part of the bottom would seem to help, in practice, the stone sticks out the bottom of the setting in a way that is very likely to get broken and it still rocks quite a bit when you are trying to set. Not recommended! :)
